Terrible they have Zero roll in showers for the real handicapped

Hard to believe Parksville is in the number one place to retire for old people and this hotel does not have a single wheelchair accessible roll in shower room. It is an absolute disgrace to Canada and i think the BC government should fine these places $10k a month until they have a few units for the severely handicapped. I am disgusted as these places can be rented to regular people as well TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beware of Hidden Fees

I recently stayed at the Beach Club Resort while on a short business trip to Vancouver Island. I had a tower room (no view) and it was comparable to any major 3 star chain hotel. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. Two issues came up during my stay: 1. Check in was apparently not done correctly. Twice after check in I was asked for my credit card because the hotel system had not saved my details. 2. The hotel adds an "Environmental Fee" of $15 to the room charge. When I asked what the fee was for it was explained that it was similar to a "Resort Fee" - in my opinion this is deceptive and pure profiteering by Bellstar. Parksville isn't Las Vegas and of there is a "Resort Fee" then maybe Room service should operate 24/7 and the restaurant should stay open a little later that 8pm. Although this is a decent hotel for the area as a consumer I like to know that the rate I am quoted is the rate that I am going to pay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Never Going Back

My wife and I have never stayed in a more annoying resort. Let me say first, the staff were very accommodating and friendly. First class! After that it's hard to believe the flaws in this establishment: not enough parking. You go out for dinner and come back and can't find a spot. Mentioned this at the front desk and they said they could find something off site but close. On a holiday it's something you shouldn't have to worry about. The bed frames stuck out and we both kept hitting our legs until we had to put pillows over the frame before we did some serious damage to our legs. It sounds kinda funny but it hurt each time we did it. Still have a bruce from the first bump. We had an ocean view and a balcony but the sliding door required instructions on how to open it to get to the balcony. I somehow got lucky and managed to open it once. The bathroom facilities were far below what you would expect, considering what you were paying. A very tiny space with no shelving for anything. In the shower no shelves for soap or shampoo. Very annoying and inconvenient. All in all a very disappointing stay and not worth the money at any price. Great location and staff but that's it! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

COVID aware and friendly

Well- it has been a while since I stayed at a hotel. Some friends from a Montreal were visiting family and we linked up with them here. Everything was clean and the presence of hand sanitizers was nice to see. We dined in the restaurant and felt safe at all times. It is indeed a different world with COVID but this place is handling it well. Rooms are clean and spacious. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Almost $400 night with a view of The Bates Motel

We booked three nights in a one-bedroom suite. The suite itself was fine overall, but we were very disappointed to have to look at a decrepit motel that was full of construction debris and equipment. We kept the living room curtains closed due to the view. When I went to the front desk to ask if there would be construction during our stay, they said yes, but attempted to minimize it, stating (the construction workers) don't work during the evenings and don't start really early. Apparently the hotel was fully booked, so changing rooms was not an option. The fact that we were not given a heads-up or given some reduction in cost given the view/noise was very disappointing. A small issue with the suite was that the bathroom was not well-stocked (we had to call for re-stocking on the 2nd day) and one of the two robes had a hole in it. I expect better attention to detail at a hotel such as this. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
