Best hotel!

Jun 23rd, 2019

I have been to New York many times and this is the best hotel I have stayed in. It is very reasonably priced for its standard and having a kitchenette in the room was really great. The service was very good and the staff very helpful. It is in a good location and close to a subway station. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing Stay

Jun 23rd, 2019

We travelled here just before Christmas, a family of four with two teenagers for my daughters 18th. This was our first time in New York. I had researched as much as I could on different districts and locations before booking The Benjamin and thought I had made a good choice and we were all so very excited and from other reviews it all looked so promising. While the hotel is comfortable and cleanish, it had no wow factor and was just ok, the sofa bed was horrendously uncomfortable, we spoke to reception about this on day 1 and asked again about it later but nothing was ever done. Nobody was overly friendly and when we tried to get just a coffee in the restaurant they wasn’t keen on just drinks so we left, there is a great coffee shop next door and a little diner down the road that serve great breakfasts. Location was ok, previous reviews said it’s noisy, yes it is but that’s just the charm of New York. Room was good size, bathroom very dated and a bit grubby. As it was Christmas time we were looking for a traditional elegant hotel with cosy interior , there was just a Christmas tree in the corner of the small reception and that was it! Overall we would definitely return to New York but would not stay at The Benjamin again unfortunately, felt very disappointed in our stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great experience..

Jun 19th, 2019

From the first moment at the front desk, to the suite I was upgraded to all the way to the brunch at the National; all were first class. The room was not as big as some other places we've been but thats NYC for you. We did luck out with a balcony which boasted awesome views! We spoke with the manager Ryan whom was extremely welcoming and personable. He gave us the impression as if we actually cared. Secondly we loved the National, food was well crafted and had great value. My top choice was the Pork Belly Benedict, it'll change your life. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Corporate Event

Jun 18th, 2019

The Benjamin is a beautiful hotel. We hosted a 3 day corporate event at The Benjamin. Everyone was very pleased with the meeting rooms as well as the hotel rooms. Jackie & Tasha did an excellent job of taking care of all of the catering and event set ups. A special thank you to the concierge staff (Anya, Tom and Sarah). They were wonderful! They were a huge help when it came to arranging tours, making restaurant reservations and setting up transportation for the whole group (23 people!). I contacted them during the planning phase for recommendations for restaurants and tours. They were spot on with everything! I would certainly recommend The Benjamin to anyone planning an event or just looking for a great place to stay while visiting New York City. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A pleasurable stay as always

Jun 17th, 2019

I don't know what happened to Laddie 10, but our fourth or fifth visit to The Benjamin, this time with children and grandchildren, could not have gone any smoother. Yes, we had a wait for our requested rooms to be ready, but fortunately had built this into our itinerary for the day, so it caused no problems. As always, from Jonathan at the door, to Anya the Concierge, to the front desk and bell staff, we felt like family. There were some small glitches with the elevators which can be a bother, but the overall comfortable feeling one gets there lessens the "pain". We will have to say, the newly refurbished decor is not to our personal style, as the traditional furnishings seemed to make one feel more at home than on the road. However, all it was another great weekend, and we might add, The National did no disappoint us in its continued great performance, and of course, the New York Luncheonette almost right next door is still one of the top draws to that location.
