Disappointing

Aug 15th, 2019

We were rather disappointed in our experience at this hotel, notwithstanding it's notable reputation. We did not find the rooms particularly attractive or up-to-date. We requested a room with a walk-in shower and, instead, were given one with a tub. No turn-down service, no robes for guests. Definitely not what we might have expected. We had repeated conversations with the desk prior to our arrival and still don't understand their billing procedure...very significant payment in advance which is then returned as a credit to your card. Staff were polite but not particularly helpful. We did enjoy the lovely front porch, the breakfast buffet and service personnel in the Carolina Room both at dinner and breakfast...efficient, accommodating. When we needed to change the date well in advance of our stay we were told they would 'waive' the fee for that as a courtesy. Really.... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Landmark property, worth a visit/stay

Aug 8th, 2019

I have been a guest here a number of times over the years for work events and meetings. I have seen it in aged (not in a good way) condition and almost back to original glory. Currently it's in a four to four & a half star condition. Some common areas show some wear. Areas that are painted (and worn) I think should be covered in brass. Some of the trim and siding of the buildings could use replacing, or cleaning/repainting. The climate is brutal in the summer (intense heat, sunshine and high humidity) and I'm sure makes it hard to maintain in 5-star appearance every day. I would love to see them have a large, dedicated cocktail lounge with a large selection. Right now, they have two small bars in the Ryder Cup Restaurant/Lounge. One has only 3-4 stools and the other 7-8. People wanting to enjoy a cocktail are sharing the space with diners eating burgers and salads. This property is screaming for a nice, dedicated lounge. The rooms are nice and updated (tiled showers, high-end bath fixtures and comfortable bedding. The conference areas are nice as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Spa Losing Its Luster

Aug 2nd, 2019

I’ll start by saying I love Pinehurst and the resort. Our family has spent a lot of money there over the years for company Christmas parties and vacations and probably will continue to do so. That being said my wife and I took a day trip there for a spa visit for our 16th anniversary and were totally underwhelmed. Upon arrival we were told all hot tubs weren’t in service because “they have had a busy couple weeks”, the locker room attendant was too busy on his phone to have anything cleaned up or ready for guests and the steam rooms could hardly produce steam in either the men’s or women’s rooms. Pitiful. The services as usual were great but it’s the whole experience that matters. Hopefully new management will be in place soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Golf Pinehurts #7 and then #2

Jul 19th, 2019

Excellent hotel and Villa. Breakfast had a big buffet with local and international food. The room is very comfortable and since t is part of a Villa, it was very quiet. We also had dinner at the restaurant and we had a tasty New York Steak TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not even a 3 star hotel!

Jul 19th, 2019

This was our 3rd visit to Pinehurst Resort. Not sure what has happened over the years but it has really gone down! I have posted pictures of my sheets and blanket. Unacceptable condition. Room was clean, furniture extremely bad shape, mattress and needs replacing. The bed cover needs to be replaced. I didn't even want to touch it. Maybe a bunch of golfers don't mind these conditions at these high prices but I do! Save your money and stay at a Red Roof Inn. About the same quality of room! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
