Beautiful Historic Golf Resort

Jan 9th, 2021

Recently stayed 2 nights for a quick trip to play Number 2. This was my first experience at Pinehurst so I was glad we chose the Carolina for our stay. The hotel is beautiful and full of golf history. I really enjoyed walking the halls and looking at all the pictures and momentos from the past there. The hotel was still decorated beautifully from the holidays. The staff was terrific. Everyone from the valets to the front desk to the bell hops were very friendly and pleasant to talk with. We had a great dinner at the Carolina Dining Room (awesome steaks). We enjoyed awesome wings in the Ryder Cup Lounge. The pool area looked fun. There were people in the pool while we were there but it was a little cold for us. The putting green out back is nice as well. Loved the huge porch with all the rocking chairs. Very relaxing. Our room itself was on the average side. Sleeping area was basic and on the smaller side. We had 2 beds that were definitely double beds and not queens so that made sleeping arrangements tight if you are sharing a bed. Room temperature was tough to figure out the first night but the second night we got it worked out. Bathroom was large with marble floors and a large shower! Overall a very pleasant stay. Hope to return to play other courses soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

lovely historic hotel!

Dec 7th, 2020

My family recently stayed here for a golf tournament. It is an oder hotel, but it is lovely. If you like golf, you will love the historic touches - and the putting green out back. The rooms were large and clean. The service was impeccable. I never opened a door the whole time I was there. I also loved the shuttles that were always available to take you anywhere on property. The staff was incredibly friendly and there are some great restaurants on property. I would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location with some nice touches

Nov 30th, 2020

We visited this hotel for a golfing weekend and had a wonderful time particularly as the weather was very cooperative. Our first impressions of the hotel were excellent thanks to the very efficient and very friendly bell staff and great service from the front desk. Christmas decorations filled the foyer and the corridors leading off it creating a welcoming and festive feel. Our room was small but comfortable but, for the price, could have been more spacious. We had a package which included breakfast and evening meals, some of which could be taken outside of the hotel. We chose a 'fine dining' option at the hotel and a dinner at The Tavern in the village. The latter was disappointing and, although the menu looked interesting, the food was obviously ready-meals that were just deep fried. Breakfasts at the hotel seemed to be processed convenience foods with cheap ingredients. Omelets could be made to order which was perhaps one saving grace. Our 'fine dining ' experience was in the same restaurant where breakfasts were served. The atmosphere was totally cheerless, with dull lighting and no effort had been made to create any atmosphere with not even a candle or tealight on the table, no Christmas decorations just a totally sterile environment. Considering the the lobby contained about 40 poinsettias it wouldn't have taken much effort to transfer a few to the dining room. The food was acceptable but very rich and heavy and in no way reflective of how contemporary menus can be lighter and delicious with fresh ingredients. We will choose differently next time. Quick Thanksgiving getaway

Nov 29th, 2020

Room was just ok, not great. Dinner (Thanksgiving day) was not what I would have expected. Food was average and service was sub par. Like the previous reviewer said ... not a 5-star experience. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and food was again just average, nothing special. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pre thanksgiving trip

Sixth time in visiting the Carolina hotel. Even with the Covid restrictions still enjoyable. Valet was nice and helpful. Front desk efficient with check in. No real complaints about room but it would have been nice to have a fourth pillow. But bed was comfortable, towels soft and shower was nice. Room was a little dark and hard to read due to the dim lighting. Walk-in closet was nice. Shuttle service was good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
