One of the more charming hotels in London

Jun 25th, 2020

It might be redundant to add another five star review to an already so well reviewed property, but in case of the Chamberlain I would go out of my way to recommend it and have done so to colleagues and friends. The current closures most likely mean hardship for hotels and restaurants alike, so this feels like a good opportunity to past a review, despite our stays being a while back. Overall, my wife and I stayed at the Chamberlain on multiple occasions for almost a month in total in 2017 and 2018, and we would happily go bac nowk if we could. We stayed in a Deluxe Superior Room and had breakfast every day. The staff, including those in the pub and room maintanance are friendly, professional and not too "robotic" (as seen in other London hotels). Everyone we talked too seemed very charismatic, just as the property itself. There are of course more luxurious places in London but I have yet to stay at a hotel which I found to be more charming overall. The Chamberlain for me has the perfect mixture of being "down to earth" while offering very high standards in quality and cleanliness, both in regards to the renovated rooms and the breakfast. It this is your first time staying in London I would also recommend not staying in the more touristy areas around Kensington or north of Hyde Park e.g. Restaurants and businesses in the City generally have a more relaxed, authentic feel and are not as run over by tourists. My wife and I really enjoyed the area - for us nothing beats walking to Tower Bridge to take in the sunset on the Thames and then leisurely stroll back to the Chamberlain when we are in London. Nice rooms with a little extra 😉

Mar 15th, 2020

Really nice hotel, very nice rooms and awesome beds! I especially liked the treat of free water and free Beer in the mini fridge every (belonging to fuller, they treat with two free fuller beers every day). Pro tip for everyone as stupid as me: to save space and make everything look snappy in the room, the large towels are „hidden“ in the wardrobe 😉 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent stay

Mar 1st, 2020

We booked for 2 night and area of London we’d not stayed before. Excellent location for the tube, bars and the Tower of London. The hotel was fad, nice comfortable room, bed lots of towels, robes and slippers if you wanted them. Tea and Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Excellent breakfast for 10.99 each well worth it. Excellent stay will definitely return and highly recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Superb London hotel

Feb 16th, 2020

My wife and I love this place for many reasons. Firstly it's a short walk from Liverpool Street which makes it an ideal base when you're travelling in from Essex for an overnight stay. It's also in a great location, near Tower Hill tube for easy access around the city, and with various pubs and restaurants in the surrounding streets. The hotel itself is a real classy looking establishment with comfortable clean rooms, great beds and some nice complimentary treats awaiting visitors in their mini bar. The staff on the reception desk are super friendly and helpful, whilst the price for the rooms always appears to be very reasonable for what you get. Now for the down side - the breakfast! Not the food itself may I add (which is delicious) but for the chaotic staffing and lack of organisation. For the second consecutive time we had to ask someone to take our hot food order, and again there were things missing (no cereal bowls in this instance - we were pointed towards coffee cups for our cereal when we asked!) The breakfast is such a let down for the hotel when everything else is done so well. Hopefully they will get enough complaints to remedy these issues, at which point I would probably apply a 5 star rating. Also worth mentioning I couldn't get a drink in the hotel bar before the 11.30pm close which I was also disappointed with as I had to go over the road to the Slug & Lettuce. But... all in all, a really great hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
