Superb location & host

Aug 18th, 2019

Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2019. Arrived earlier around noon and the room was not ready - the very helpful host at the front desk gave us a beach pass to the gated private beach where we could spend some time & wait for our room to be ready. We were allotted room 303 which was well equipped with high speed wifi, a spacious bath and cable tv. Special callout out for the Malin&Goetz bath toiletries. Complimentary breakfast till 10am is fantastic with DIY waffles, super coffee and Yoghurt with Granola. The location of Coachman is fantastic walking distance to the beach, the Heavenly village and shops. The housekeeping during our stay was impeccable. Highly recommended! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Family Vacation Success!

Aug 14th, 2019

Instantly upon check in we felt very welcomed and comfortable. The lobby is way cool with a chill boutique environment. The manager Lissette(thank you!)worked with us with a last minute cancellation for my sisters room due to a family emergency. Her help plus the wine and beer my husband and I had from the bar made the rocky start step in a positive direction. The kids LOVED the nightly S’mores by the fire and enjoyed the Saturday movie night on a big screen! They also enjoyed a nightly swim in the pool. Breakfast was a total hit with fresh waffles and awesome coffee. Dan the breakfast Manager was a great help to everyone there....so kind and super on top of things despite the amount of people eating breakfast at the same time. He also gave my husband great tips on beaches and look out spots for great views. It was awesome seeing him every morning! GO DAN!!! We received passes from the hotel to a private beach 5 min away which was convenient for our first day there as well. Overall the vibe was awesome and would definitely recommend this for a family stay! BTW....I found this place through a client of mine who is a well known influencer. Her amazing review of The Coachman did not disappoint! I will be back for sure....next time a girls trip with my sister and her 2 dogs! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Staff are what makes this place GREAT.

Jul 21st, 2019

You might find a better or more comfortable room but you wont find a better staff working for you. The rooms are a bit small but well designed. To be honest, who wants to be in a hotel room in Lake Tahoe? So the room size was not a priority for us. We checked in a very busy Friday in July. There was a national golf tournament in town with a Blake Shelton concert planned Friday night. We did not know of any of this when we made our plans. So everything was packed and crowded. The Coachman Hotel was perfectly located so there were plenty of places within walking distance. The breakfast every morning was terrific. Plenty of dark roast coffee (mild was also available), waffles (whip cream optional), hard boiled eggs, bread, english muffins, cereal and fresh fruit. The entire place was clean and airy. Happy hours were a good way to meet other guests but more important provided us an oppportunity to talk with the bartender about things to do. Jake was great. He worked with us and provided a perfect itinerary for the next day. We followed his advise and had one of the best days of our vacation. We avoided the crowds and got to do everything on our list. Without his help, the vacation would have been fun but not spectacular. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awesome if you pay $150-200 not so awesome for $350

Jul 16th, 2019

This is a great little hotel in a really busy part of South Lake Tahoe. Its a little oasis with a great pool and lobby. They did a good job with sound proofing between rooms, they have pretty good customer service and great breakfast. But it isn't a hotel thats worth $350. There were parties in multiple rooms. People drinking natty light and arguing outside the room on the balcony for hours. There aren't any amenities that warrant the $350 cost, scratchy sheets and bare rooms. Our room wasn't ready till after the 4pm checkin. But they were responsive when we asked to move rooms due to the multiple parties. So good overall but overpriced TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Trendy hotel in great location

Jul 6th, 2019

Factoring in location, room quality, price, ambiance, and amenities, this might be the best hotel in South Lake Tahoe and I'd recommend it for any kind of traveler. It's within walking distance of the beach and a couple blocks from Heavenly Village but not on the main drag so it still has a relaxing vibe and you feel like you're coming back to a nice place where you can recharge. I definitely plan to return to The Coachman next time I visit the area. Pros: - Beautiful space: It has a similar aesthetic as the Ace Hotel and, as I later learned, was designed by the same firm who worked on the Ace. - Free parking and a free breakfast that includes a hot iron waffle maker, cereal, bagels, and toast. - S'mores available to roast over the fire from 7-9pm in their lovely courtyard. - They offer beach cruiser bikes for rental at $5/hour, which I used to bike down the nearby South Lake Tahoe Bikeway (a wide, paved bike route that runs parallel to Lake Tahoe Blvd. and offers beautiful views of the Lake and nature). Cons: - Lobby closes at 10pm. I didn't need anything after then, so I'm not sure if that also means that their staff are also not available after then but if you prefer a 24/7 presence in the lobby, this is worth noting. - The happy hour (3-6pm daily) was underwhelming: essentially just $2 off of two specific drinks at the bar. - I wish they had helmets too for their bike rentals. Not a huge deal but would have been nice to have for peace of mind, especially since their bikes don't have horns or hand brakes. Tahoe Bike Company down the street is another option if that's important. ^ given how minor those cons are, you get a sense of how wonderful The Coachman is! :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
