Lovely Hotel with Great View of Boston

Nov 30th, 2019

Very nice room of contemporary look with leather & wood accents. Great view of Boston Harbor and the buildings in the financial district that you can enjoy changing color throughout the day. We really liked the location that is not overcrowded as the city center but still within walking distance to many attractions and nice restaurants. Nice walk/bike paths right next to the property. (Highly recommend for runners!) Gilchrist and Soames bathroom amenities and Illy coffee machine were pretty nice, too. The walls seem to have pretty good sound insulation. We heard some people staying in the next room talking loudly when we came out of our room, but didn’t hear them at all from our room. A little funky looking bicycle-mounted TV set was slightly blocking the great view as some other guests also pointed out. Would be great if it had rollers so we can move it more easily. One thing that bothered me was that every time I walked through the revolving door, there were two and both of them, it smelled like stale tobacco smoke. I first thought it was a residual odor from some other guests, but the saw some people smoking on Sleeper st. And the on the water side, too, so it may be because of them. Finally, I want to thank all the super helpful and friendly hotel staff. We would definitely come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice staff and location but the rooms leave a lot to be desired

Nov 3rd, 2019

I’ve now stayed at this hotel about six times. I love it because of the location and the close proximity to some of the finer restaurants in the city and always find the staff to be extremely helpful and pleasant. They also have a very cool and unique rooftop bar that is the main attraction, again offering fantastic views. What I don’t understand is the room design. You can see in these photos how small the room is and what could be an incredible view out of your room, is instead blocked by a very strange TV stand which is a bicycle. Why on earth if you had this nice of a view would you put a TV stand this large clunky and odd in front of that view? Also the rooms are very narrow and small and there’s only a small area in which to put your luggage and there’s no floor space anywhere in the room. If it’s just one person in the room, it’s fine but for a couple it’s very challenging. finally, the room and bathroom are open concept offering no privacy in the bathroom whatsoever. The door is glass and gives one small panel but is otherwise open and there’s no way to close the door completely so even if you don’t see you can hear everything. It’s a bit awkward TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wedding weekend

Oct 25th, 2019

In mid-October, The Envoy took care of our group in several rooms on the 6th (top) floor for a wedding ceremony across the street at the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage. It was fun to see the bride walking across the street with her entourage, and then photos were taken right across the hotel, with a skyline view by the bay, before the reception at the aquarium. The assistance of Darlene was particularly invaluable as was the service from housekeeping and room service staff. The rooms had a hip, minimalist vibe. There were lots of power/USB outlets (always important) and the linens were fine. The even numbers faced the waterfront while the odd numbers faced the brick courthouse building. Room tip: if you will need two beds, you will get an odd-numbered room without a waterfront view. Take the king beds, or better still, take the corner suite. Service was generally good all around, though the food at Outlook Kitchen was somewhat disappointing for one weeknight dinner and one breakfast. The one thing we had to ask for was a bathroom scale, which two of the front-desk staff said wasn't available, and then one did say it should be there, but it wasn't, and he sent it up. There's not much in the area for a tourist (Sephora, Shake Shack, breweries, some travel shops, soon a Trader Joe's, two good bakeries Tatte and Flour, then you'd have to walk or cab downtown) but there are several offices in this gentrified area, and it will soon be very popular. But we were very happy to have our foreign guests / out of town group gathered near the church for a precious family highlight. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
