Lost a customer for life

So we went to a restaurant in South Town on Sunday night. The bartender there was very good. He gave us a few recommendations and told us to check out the rooftop bar at this particular place. So on Tuesday after spending an hour at Niosa, a friend and and I decided to have a proper drink with a proper meal. We were right near the hotel so we thought it would be the perfect time to check it out. Walking up to the front door the hotel looked like it wasn’t too busy. We walked inside and this bigger man stopped us immediately and asked us what we needed. I told him we were looking to have a drink at the bar. He said the bar was just for guests. He didn’t even ask us if we were guests. I mentioned that another bartender at a very nice restaurant recommended this place to us and he couldn’t even be bothered. Instead of arguing I said thank you and walked out. He lost a future guest. 2 in fact. And more because I’m going to tell everyone I know. I wanted to give you my money. I wanted to give your bartenders my money. I doubt you will be employed there for a long time. I know how people in this industry leave one place and go to another so I understand that there is really no loyalty but the Fairmount can personally thank you for losing 2 people that will never be back again. Terrible treatment at rooftop bar

Poor service..Came into silo to enjoy a meal then went upstairs to enjoy the rooftop after settling in we decided to move around the corner... saw that some sections were reserved and before i gave up my good seats i asked the guy who appeared to be in charge if the section i was moving to was reserved he said no... i sat there and enjoyed a great evening and then the same guy who told me began to have a conversation with the person who appeared to have reserved the other section before and then told me i had to leave where i was sitting because “it was reserved too” when i asked “why did you tell me it wasnt reserved after i asked” he replied “i wasnt sure if it was or not” - so we had to move - terrible way to treat a guest - if he had said it was reserved we would have never moved... guy wasnt apologetic more like “oh well deal with it” kind of attitude...they probably dont care if i come back or not just be careful they definitely arent in the customer service biz TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Chilly Date Weekend

Made a reservation at this hotel as we found a great rate for an old favorite for date weekend. We arrived during check in time. I reserved a king room online. I guess there was a glitch because when we got to our appointed room it was a full or queen bed. Plus it had a horrible smell. We went back to the desk and they quickly remedied and moved us to another room. Mind you it was cool on check in day and it was cold in the dark, old room. The heater did not work. Someone came in and had to switch the system from ac to heat. This did not work. After about half hour of this we were moved to room 200 off of the balcony. Beautiful room and the heat worked. But be warned. This hotel cannot run AC and heat in the same day or night. The next morning with the sun beating down on the big unprotected glass the room got hot fast. We could not run ac as it was set on heat mode. I could not get out of there quick enough and outside to a much more comfortable temperature. This heating and cooling system was definitely a turn off. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect size and location; pet friendly

I was in town for a conference at a Riverwalk hotel. The Fairmount was perfect for me because it was right near everything I needed for my conference but without all the people, pricetags, and noise. I had my dog, and he was totally welcomed by the hotel folks. The park across Alamo was ideal for walking him. My room was clean and unique. An enjoyable stay. The only problem was parking. At $40/night for uncovered parking, I would have liked them to clean my windshields before bringing me my car. They had a good coating of bird poop each time I called for the car. Actually, the whole car had it here and there, as birds do, but getting your car with a clean windshield should be a given. It doesn't cost anything but an extra minute or two. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst Hotel Stay

We went in to San Antonio to visit our son as he was graduating from a P.A. Program. We decided it would be nice to stay close to the River Walk. We researched hotels and found this one to be on the historic registry, the pictures looked great and it had 4 stars. We arrived at the hotel late and had paid for our whole stay sadly! The hotel looked a little old, but we thought the rooms would be fine. The hallway leading to the room smelled very musty and the door to the room looked very beaten up, definitely in need of painting. Upon opening the door, the musty smell continued and the bathroom was disgusting, with peeling wallpaper, dirty toilet and definitely black mold. We suffered through the night and went down to get a new room. After looking at over 6 rooms. We settled on one that at least did not have a musty smell, or black mold! We did find a loose floor board leading to the bathroom that we needed to be careful not to stub our toes, and get used to the feeling that the sheets were damp, though they weren’t. My suggestion, don’t waste your money, time or health staying here!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
