TMEA and Valentine's Weekend

Feb 16th, 2020

I got a room for the Valentine's Day and the TMEA convention. The room is quaint. I liked it, but I am a fan of historic hotels and places. I loved the idea of the sitting areas on the floors. There are a few people who made our stay quite special. Jauny was there to ensure we had everything we needed. Maren was at the bar and was very friendly who made excellent drinks. The bar was fast and efficient. I had an issue in the room, and Johnny was in the room in less than 2 minutes to help me. The hotel is beautiful. The location cannot be better. Please note that this hotel is older being built in 1906 with being the heaviest object moved when it was moved from its prior location. I am happy they saved it. It is a jewel. Loved it.

We loved the feel of the hotel. I always like staying in unique and old places. Everything was clean, fresh, and the view from the roof was amazing. George was sweet and very knowledgeable. We will definitely be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth it

Feb 3rd, 2020

Fairmount has a certain charm due to its historical building. But it's not worth the money. My room was split level, which meant I had to be careful not to slip down the stairs and on the hard wooden floors. The wifi signal was weak and kept cutting out. There was no breakfast restaurant, which was a real nuisance for someone with early meetings. There was no room service either, which is weird seeing as there were two restaurants on the ground floor. These appeared unrelated to the hotel. I tried to eat at Silo twice but the first time was told it was closing early. The second time I couldn't get anyone to give me a seat, so I returned and the same thing happened. The bathroom was in need of a remodel as it was tatty. I spent considerable effort itemizing my laundry on the form required and toted up the amountvowing, and placed my laundry in the bag provided, but was then told the laundry service had been discontinued. The housemaids were nice and the concierge had a nice sense of humour. But they couldn't save the Fairmount San Antonio. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent stay

Jan 8th, 2020

George was fantastic and very helpful with information and accommodations. We had a very lovely spacious room. Didn’t get a chance to eat at the hotel restaurants but Matthew was gracious enough to get us some water one evening when the hotel was out. Would very much recommend this hotel. It was close to everything we wanted to do and walked everywhere. Also, highly recommend George’s suggestion on the Commonwealth Bakery for excellent cappuccino! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Happy New Year!!

Jan 1st, 2020

My friends and I stayed at the Fairmount to celebrate the new year and had an amazing time. The location was perfect with all the events going on and had such a great view of the firework show. George at the front desk made our stay so pleasant. He made sure we had everything we needed at all times and was so kind to us all. Brandon also did such a great job and was so hospitable upon arrival. Thank you so much for helping us ring in the new decade. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
