Another Unexpected Surprise .. And Memorable

Apr 21st, 2019

. When searching various hotel websites The Georgian never came up when we needed somewhere to stay in Santa Monica. But while staying at the over-priced Shutters On The Beach with its snobby staff who are condescending to guests ( unless you're a movie star), we walked past The Georgian and I asked to see a suite. And we were pleasantly surprised. So we checked-out of Shutters with it's rabbit hutch sized rooms, and moved to The Georgian, in the process saving literally hundreds of dollars a night. To be honest, at the end of our stay we'd saved a few thousand. I would say to have an open mind. This is an old Art Deco hotel of the style you see along Miami Beach. The elevators are old - it's all a bit quirky. But yet again we had a very large suite which functioned very well with a view all the way to Malibu and beyond. We had a great bed. The bathroom was old-fashioned, but it functioned fine. All the staff were incredibly nice. There's a divine quirky waitress in the evening from Las Vegas who was so adorable. The food was pretty good too. It's not a 5 star hotel, and neither does it pretend to be ( like so many). It's comfortable, friendly, and easy to walk to local restaurants and stores. Get a 'free valet parking' package which will save you almost $50 a night. And the bottom line is when you check-out you'll have an extra few hundred or even a couple of thousand dollars still in your wallet which you wont have wasted on one of the other local hotels. Would stay again without hesitation. . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Location

Apr 14th, 2019

Great Location near the Pier, shopping, restaurants etc. Nice Art-Deco preservation but did lend to a lack of a few niceties such as Elevator a bit slow, small lobby and no bathroom draw fan. Nice ceiling fan in main room gave a good climate control with AC. Would stay again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Welcoming service

Apr 10th, 2019

This is a lovely place to stay in Santa Monica. Like some of the other hotels on Ocean Avenue or east of it, it has been refurbished. But it offers the same friendly and accommodating service as it always has. It is within walking distance of shops and restaurants, including the Santa Monica mall and Montana Avenue, and a stone's throw from the Pacific Coast Highway and the on-ramp to the 10 freeway. There are glitzier places to stay directly on the beach, but on a price-value basis the Georgian is hard to beat. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful

This was such a delightful find. It’s right across from the beach, the rooms are quiet and food is fantastic, we had breakfast here every day. The staff are so helpful and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Honeymoon Stay

Mar 30th, 2019

My husband and I spent 4 nights here on the second stop on our West Coast Honeymoon. The staff were fantastic and helped me plan a birthday surprise for my husband as well as putting a bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries in our room to help us celebrate. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone at The Georgian, which made a nice change from the service we received in Vegas! From a location perspective, The Georgian offers spectacular views of the pier and the Pacific. We hardly wanted to leave our suite. Nearby, there are a multitude of amazing restaurants to choose from; if you want a bit of a venture to Venice, we’d highly recommend Charcoal for Michelin started BBQ food. Anyway, in summary, a wonderful stay with no resort fees (we’ve just discovered some unexpected fees in San Francisco!) and very helpful staff. We can certainly recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
