Located on about 10,000 acres of southeastern West Virginia land near the Allegheny Mountains, The Greenbrier is a National Historic Landmark that features turn-of-the-century architecture. The sprawling compound was built in 1778 and offers several golf courses, a casino, a bowling alley and a small museum, among other amenities. Visitors can also take a tour of the property's bunkers, which were built beneath the resort as an emergency Cold War fallout shelter for U.S. government officials.
