Perfect place for a beautiful wedding!

The history and the facilities of The Greenbriar are fantastic, but it is the people who work there that make t so special. They were wonderful and met our every need with prompt, friendly service. You can really tell they enjoy working there and treat their customers with friendly respect. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Anniversary Weekend
Feb 28th, 2021
It was our 35th anniversary and we had been booked for a cruise. Oops! Instead we treated ourselves to a weekend at the Greenbrier. It was fabulous. The place is very nice. It is well restored and well maintained. The staff is excellent. The deluxe room was very nice, and very comfortable. We had dinner in the Forum and at the steak house. Both were excellent. Breakfast both mornings in the main dining room was excellent and filling. We skipped lunch both days. We bought the winter package. It was still pricey, but worth it! The package included early check-in and late checkout, which we took full advantage of. It made the whole weekend seem a lot longer. The staff followed covid protocols with diligence. Perhaps they followed the governor's mask mandate because the governor owns the place? Good for them. We felt as safe as you can be once you go out. While we spent more than we are used to spending, we felt like we got good value. If you can spare the dough, go for it! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Iconic, but tired
Feb 18th, 2021
The Resort is beautiful and nostalgic in so many ways, but it is tired. The rooms, in particular, are tired. Even those that are being remodeled aren’t being remodeled to the same level of grandeur that once was. Not as much wallpaper, updating some wallpaper and then leaving some of the old. They are missing some normal modern amenities, e.g., reasonably fast internet, large TVs, a smart TV interface, bright lighting, etc. As I sit in one of the cottages, if I forget what’s outside the door, I could be sitting inside a $79 motel room. Carpet is worn, couch fabric is dated, lamps are dim, furniture chipped and not an appropriate scale for the room size. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Greenbrier— but the quality is not on par with other resorts of similar cost that we enjoy (e.g. Williamsburg Inn, Inn at Little Washington, Trump’’s Albemarle, Inn at Willow Grove, Salamander, etc.) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We didn't stay on the resort, we just visited the shops and main building. It's such a beautiful, historic property. But allow me to be completely honest--- I really wanted in so I could take pictures, because I play that video game you guys are featured in and I cannot imagine I'm allowed to name it due to copyright infringement. I know you'd prefer to keep your resort upscale and formal and such, but I do wish you'd be more .....enthusiastic.....about gamers who may wish to see your property. Gamers have money too. In our case, we've both finished graduate school and he's an officer in the military. This is an entirely new demographic you guys could capitalize upon. Anyway, everyone was very friendly to us, but I could tell they were wondering why I was taking so many pictures and I certainly wasn't there to cause harm. We'd love to come back after Covid is over and stay at the resort. Stay safe guys! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Our First Visit

The Greenbrier is a grand old hotel with a rich history and unique countenance. Visiting is a one of a kind experience and if you come expecting a typical "luxury" hotel you will be surprised. The decor is vintage Dorothy Draper TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
