World leading? Had better at Cote

Feb 15th, 2020

I never spoil myself with extravagant meals or drinks but had always wanted to visit the Gritti Palace. It took me until I turned 60 this week. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. It has to be the most lack lustre caesar I have ever had. Cubed chicken. I also pointed out a short grey hair I had found in it. The waiter didnt react. A piece with gristle and red vein in it. Gordon Ramsay would have had a fit. Basic croutons, dry bacon, gloopy dressing. 2 anchovies. Slices of parmesan on the side. I asked for it to be redone. Had it returned with no parmesan, no extra chicken just the bad piece removed. I was billed the full €27 for it.the waiter apologised but no offer of reduction on the bill. Would that chef have served him/herself such a salad. One of the most expensive hotels in the world. Very poor and a huge disappointment for my very rare treat. Will stick to more modest establishments in future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Once in a lifetime experience

Feb 11th, 2020

It's been almost ten years since we visited Venice last time, when we could only afford street cheap eats and hostels which are way off the main iconic Venice spots. It's just like what our receptionist greeted during check-in that a lot of could have changed in ten years. We are so glad that we stayed at Gritti Palace this time, so glad that we didn't even want to go out to see Venice. The hotel itself is like an antique work of art full of exquisite and delicate paintings, furnitures, and decorations. We upgraded to a one bedroom suite, which is really spacious with a lovely balcony that could view the canal. All the staff were very kind and helpful during the stay. The breakfast was a true sparkle as well as the attentive service. We finally enjoyed a slow paced family brunch, which was rare back in home. It was so cold and foggy outside in the late Jan, otherwise I bet it would be really nice to eat outside in the summer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Total Luxury!!!

Jan 24th, 2020

We cannot thank Pedro and the staff enough for our wonderful experience. We were generously upgraded us to the Punta della Dogana Patron Suite overlooking the beautiful Grand Canal, with a connecting room for our children and we immediately were in heaven! The breakfast was amazing, the outdoor bar was relaxing and the club sandwiches were to die for!! It’s a must when you visit Venice! This is our new ‘go to’ hotel for our future stays in Venice and would highly recommend it to everyone. You can only stay in Venice for 3 days at the most generally speaking, but when staying at the Gritti Palace Hotel, weeks and months is not enough!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Iconic

Very few hotels make you feel at home from the time you land. Gritti Palace is one such hotel. We arrived late at night. The airport pick up was warm and and we were quickly whisked away by our private boat to the hotel. The rooms were spacious and the service impeccable. We didn’t stay in a canal facing room, but to compensate we could see a Christmas tree in the square. Most of the sights in Venice are walking distance and the breakfast was excellent. The only negative point if I may add is that some of the members of the concierge team were a bit prickly, but it may be due to the holiday rush. When in Venice do stay here or visit the bar which overlooks the canal TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Exquisite!

Jan 7th, 2020

We came here just for a night and it is definitely not enough. Loved the interiors of the hotel such as paintings, decoration, lightings and the food selection during breakfast was wonderful and tasty. The lady who help check in and out of my hotel stay was very nice and helpful (brunette lady wearing spectacles, sorry could not remember her name!). Thank you for the room upgrade to suite which me and my wife loved it! Again, one night was not enough to fully enjoy the room and hotel facilities. We will definitely return soon!
