Great experience and atmosphere

A second visit to be part of a wedding weekend. The hotel was wonderful to be available at late hours for check in and provided coffee in the lobby only...but always available. It was not the best view of the surrounding area, but nice location. The pool was shared with residences and families which made it crowded. The hotel has a great restaurant on location, and though expensive very good. The water provided was plentiful except you needed to like cucumber...not my favorite to fully enjoy it. The Highland again!

I am in Dallas helping my son (SMU senior) move condos and I stayed on his couch for the first two nights and then was banished to the Highland! Great Hotel, the staff called me by name the moment I walked in, I actually got to sleep in a bed, and the hotel shuttle took me to Javier’s last night to meet him for dinner and pick me up! The Highland has always been our hotel of choice when in Dallas and seems amazing that graduation a year from now will be our last trip to the Highland! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful property!!

We've been Hilton Honors members for years, but this was our first stay at a Curio Collection hotel. This hotel was the most beautiful Hilton hotel we've stayed in! Unique decor, ULTRA comfy beds, great staff and clean rooms. Would definitely recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overall pleasant stay and clean property, efficient valet; but maybe eat breakfast elsewhere

The Highland Dallas Overall pleasant stay, excellent housekeeping and valet; however, don’t waste your time eating here, and get good directions because there is a difficult and confusing approach to the hotel given the intersection at which it’s located. Overall, our stay at The Highlands Hotel was pleasant, and I would stay again. The room was clean, the interior of the hotel was calm, and the valet was efficient. And if you have time, there is a spa on site. Getting to the hotel by GPS was confusing, however, as it was rush hour, and Dallas has so many parallel lanes and roads of back-to-back traffic that the GPS had difficulty reading our location, and it had us take the “Texpress” lane, which initially saved us time, but then, as we could not exit where it told us to exit (there was no way to exit the “Texpress” lane), we had to drive significantly out of our way and return via local roads (also loaded with traffic). The hotel sits at a very difficult intersection and is only accessible from one direction if a certain turn into a seeming strip mall adjacent is blocked off (which, unfortunately, it was for part of our stay). Upon our arrival, valet was efficient. Though no hotel staff (nor the three men staying at the hotel who were loitering about the hotel entrance) bothered to open or to hold the door as I struggled with my bags. Check in was quick. My room, as noted, was tasteful, spacious, and had a cattle-accented theme decor indicative of its home-town. My room had an air purifier; when I called down to inquire about it, I was told that I had a “pure” room. I appreciated this as I have dust allergies, but that also meant that I had somewhat uncomfortable too-large, “allergy-free” pillows. Thankfully, the bed was fine, however! The room was comfortable and supplied with plenty of towels and washcloths, a robe, a full-length mirror, and plenty of outlets to plug in tech/hair dryer/iron. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable for ease of use with ample countertop. Glasses and an ice cooler sat appropriately on a table near to the door. There was both a low bench as well as a luggage rack in the room so I could store both of my open suitcases off of the floor. A large desk was appreciated to hold my work things as well as my hand-held bags. Delightful, subtly scented, “White Tea by exhale” toiletries were replaced daily: shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bath cleanser, bar bath soap, and a bar of facial soap. I used them all, and they were all lovely. Housekeeping did a wonderful, non-intrusive job. There is an on-site bar and steakhouse restaurant (“Knife”), though we didn’t have dinner here. We chose instead to visit “Gloria’s,” nearby for dinner (Tex-Mex), and the hotel staff kindly offered to drive us the few minutes to dinner and back in the hotel shuttle so I did not need to drive while travel-weary (the driver initially refused a tip, but we insisted). Another night, I met a friend for a glass of wine at the bar - it was too loud for us, but they let us take our wine to the comfortable nearby seating area outside the bar for a quick and better decibel-level catch up. Breakfast was disappointing: slow, lackluster service from the wait staff; the fruit I had tasted funny (old?); they brought our rye toast long after I had nearly finished my eggs; and, after my colleague joined me, he was not greeted nor offered to order until the server made a second trip back to the table. If I had not been heading straight to the airport, I would have skipped eating here all together, and would have grabbed a coffee and a snack elsewhere. It was wholly an unsatisfying experience. I locked myself out of my room the second day of my stay, and the staff adeptly and quickly handled my situation. Valet was quick to retrieve our car. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, and I would stay again (and now that I am aware of the quirky arrival/location situation of the hotel, my next arrival will be much less aggravating/stressful). What I missed: some sort of light filtering window covering - it was a black out shade or nothing on the window. And in a room with lighting on the dim side, a light filtering shade would have been helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible service at an overpriced hotel.

The service in this hotel is horrible. From their cancellation policy, to the lack of attentive staff, to their lack of care for guests, I will never stay at this property again. Proximity to SMU is excellent, but that is the only reason to stay here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
