Nice hotel but improvements can be made

Aug 15th, 2019

We booked this hotel because of all the positive reviews. It's a beautiful hotel to see. Well maintained, Upon arrival it was rather quiet. Check in went easily. We wanted to have dinner but had te wait for an hour. The restaurant wasn't really overbooked, but okay. We went to our room, a family studio. It was very small. There was a double bed, and further a sofa, table and chair and small kitchenette. The view was beautiful: overlooking the valley. When returning to the desk, I was told we had to make the sofa bed ourselves. Okay. So I went up again .... only one sheet. So down again to get another one. Then we went for dinner in the restaurant. Only 4 tables with guests so it wasn't quite clear why we had to wait (it was 8 pm). The waitress was sighing a lot and was close to hitting me when se filled my water glass. The food was very good though: both appetizers and main dishes. And we loved the surroundings and view. Our room was extremely warm, despite the open windows and the fan turned to max. The warmth just couldn't get out well. Our bed was good, the sofa bed was just so so. Bathroom clean and having all we needed. The next morgen we went down for breakfast just to find there is no breakfast served in this restaurant. That was a bit of a shock to us, especially when we were just referred to a waffle place or donut shop down the road. So we just packed our stuff and had a nice breakfast later on at a Starbucks. This hotel has a lot of potential because of his history and the building itself plus a nice pool, but someone (the owner) should put a little bit more effort into making a stay here an enjoyable experience. Especially when paying over 200 dollar/night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location, location, Location

We found this to be a great location to explore Rocky Mountain National Park. The one bedroom was very small. Staff very nice. Hot tub not hot; pool not open yet. I would suggest a few more places to put belongings in bathroom would be most welcome. Other activities in area - the Observatory was very interesting, trip to Boulder for an excellent meal and a Celestial Tea factory tour was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

4 stay was excellent

This really is great place to stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The bed was good. The building itself is older and has character. The fireplace and lounge area is very inviting. One evening we had s’mores at the fireplace organised by the staff. We played pool in the library and used the free laundry services while staying here. Everything was clean and well looked after. On the front desk Drake was excellent, always helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The place is very well maintained, and the staff is very helpful. The parking is tight, the driveway is steep. The place is a bit away from the town section, but it is not hard to get there. They did plow the snow quickly while I was there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Month in Paradise

Apr 4th, 2019

We are so thankful for the staff at The Historic Crags Lodge! We have stayed at the Lodge for the past 3 weeks as our home remodel was not completed on time! It's a bit of a drive for us, but the staff is amazing and each night we return, we are welcomed and get to enjoy the scenery and the amazing lodge. We have stayed in different rooms throughout, and EVERY room has been clean, comfortable and perfect! The views from both sides are great--one overlooks the mountains, and one overlooks the city...I prefer the city--but both are wonderful. While this is not a "typical" diamond resort, it is an amazing resort to experience while enjoying Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. Thanks, Diamond, for hiring and retaining such AMAZING employees.
