Should have read reviews at first

Jun 6th, 2020

I always have good memories of a Luxury Collection hotel so that I did not think that I need to check reviews on Tripadvisor.com, which, of course , was a mistake. I have to say that the breakfast of this hotel was pathetic. It was pathetic even comparing with most of four star hotels IMO. If you could not provide many varities of food, you at least should improve the quality. waiters were busying doing nothing although only fiveor six tables were occupied. Staff were not well trained and had no idea what I wanted for room service. Once a Ritz, noow a Luxury Clollection, what's the next stop? Courtyard? Godspeed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not so luxury

May 31st, 2020

Looks quite old hotel, with old British style. Due to covid 19, no swimming pool and no italian restaurant. Fitness room still open. I booked a suite with access to executive lounge but it was small and food was not attractive. Room was cleaned and big. Bed is comfortable. Miss Small details to make differences: cup of tea are different, tea bags are low quality level, washing hands basin is not ergonomic, too small space to move hands under water. I received one chocolate on my pillow but we were 2!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

High Value Hotel with fair cost in Shanghai

Feb 11th, 2020

Hongta is one of my favor hotel in China, it has a stylish taste at it cost, the service and room quality remain the St. Regis's tradition. Many furnitures are high quality used, it might seem some aged, but it has been well maintain. They are going to renew soon, hoping the quality and cost still in the way of the future. Lovely Hotel but a bit Distant from the Action

Jan 11th, 2020

My first inkling that this hotel was a bit away from the center was when the taxi driver couldn't find it and after driving round in circles for some time he dropped me off near but not really near the location. Fortunately, a very nice young couple came to my rescue and ordered a Didi car that was able to find the hotel with the aid of their accurate app. By the time I arrived I was tired and also wet from the depressing drizzle. Walking into the Hongta was a great relief and it is a very nice hotel. The lobby is spacious and very clean and the staff mostly speak enough English to be helpful. I was upgraded to a larger and higher room and while the views are pretty ordinary being mainly roof tops and other buildings it was nice to be above any adjacent properties removing any feeling of being overlooked. The windows were huge compared with many other hotel rooms. The room had a big king bed, desk and armchair. The amenities were pretty standard - safe, kettle (no coffee maker), sparsely filled minibar fridge. The Aeron desk chair was a nice touch. The bathroom was big with separate walk-in shower and full size tub. The wifi was really excellent. After several previous hotels with creaky, slow internet systems it was great to have a fast and stable connection all the time. The Hongta is part of the Marriott group and has a lovely executive lounge on the 40th floor that I was able to use. Tea was served in the afternoon and there was a happy hour in the afternoon/evening that was actually several hours and included enough food to make a full dinner meal. Things that I really appreciated about the hotel were good communication in advance of my arrival and help in sorting out the metro lines. The Century Avenue metro stop where several lines converge is only about 5 minute's walk away. Overall, the Hongta's good points make up for the location and the nearby metro station makes it easy and cheap to get around the city. I would consider staying there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Convenient location near 4 metro lines

Dec 26th, 2019

I stayed here for business, liked the location very much. It's on the Pudong side of the river, which makes it a bit closer to the airport, rates are more friendly than on the Bund, and the hotel is at 5 minutes walk from Century Avenue metro station, with 4 different lines crossing there, so it's easy to get to any location. Hotel rooms are relatively classic, well maintained, I had an executive room, and although the executive lounge is not so big and fancy, I was eventually positively surprised by the food selection during cocktail hour, even enough for a meal if you want. Breakfast is then at the 38th floor and was fine. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
