Cleanliness and safety take a backseat at The Hoxton

Jan 24th, 2021

Was incredibly disappointed in how dirty the rooms were and staff overall. Night auditor wasn’t wearing a mask, had to change rooms bc the air filter in my first room was so dirty It broke the HVAC unit. Also noticed the housekeeper wiped out the glasses instead of replacing them with clean ones. Hotel has potential but I won’t return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Exactly what we needed.

Jan 24th, 2021

Having been holed up at home for months and logging incredible hours on a laptop, this weekend get-away to the city was much needed. The hotel offers several amenities on site, and the convenience of being able to walk less than a block to other restaurant and bars in Fulton Market makes this hotel ideal. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A perfect solo retreat

Jan 19th, 2021

I had to get out of my apartment for a night due to some maintenance in my building, and praise Godney: The Hoxton Chicago is open. I've stayed here before and it's always such a nice respite. It's a super affordable boutique hotel with considerations you'd expect from The Peninsula! Everybody you interact with -- safely and masked, no less! -- is always super accommodating and friendly. The rooms I've stayed in are always very clean. They're decorated beautifully; think mid-century modern with a dash of industrial. There's bright, clean white linens, and big windows letting in plenty of natural light. Even the in-room glassware (Italian!) and coffee mugs are chic. It also smells fantastic in the hotel, which is an oft-overlooked detail from many other boutique hotels I've stayed in, but one of the things I appreciate the most from those who get it right: a signature hotel scent! (I'm pretty sure I drunkenly purchased one of the candles from the lobby during my last visit. I should find where I put that candle because this visit reminded me how great it smells. I digress.) Lastly -- and perhaps most importantly -- the food! I've had dinner quite a few times at Cabra on the rooftop (which is safely open right now with outdoor dining, but plenty of heat!) and I highly recommend any and all of the ceviche options. Lazy Bird is the beautiful cocktail bar at The Hoxton, which I also recommend if you need a drink, be it a classic cocktail or one of Lazy Bird's innovative originals. (Lazy Bird temporarily closed because of this bummer of a pandemic -- is it over yet? -- but whenever it does reopen, go! It's cute, it's cozy, it's in the cellar level so think moody speakeasy vibes.) In closing, stay at The Hoxton Chicago. Stay here if you're visiting Chicago. Heck, stay here even if you're not! They've got what you need. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Winter staycation

Jan 11th, 2021

Safe, friendly, clean! Fun to be in a new neighborhood when you have a little cabin fever. Check in was a breeze. I have to write 200 characters to submit, so thank you to the staff and definitely will recommend to our friends. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A memorable stay during a difficult time to travel

Jan 10th, 2021

My husband and I stayed at The Hoxton while we were in town visiting friends. We had eaten at Cira many times but had never stayed at the hotel — it was as lovely as you'd expect! The rooms are on the small side, but they've made an investment in form to make up for function. The staff, in particular, are even more impressive than the interiors. We were celebrating our 1-year anniversary during our stay, and Don went above and beyond to help create a special night in a COVID-friendly manner — thank you, Don! Mikaela, the manager, was also incredibly helpful in making arrangements for us to work and work out in the area. Our stay was comfortable and memorable thanks to the staff, and I'm sure we'll be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
