Disappointed Stay at the Inn at Spanish Bay

Nov 16th, 2020

Booked a couple of Months ago knowing the Covid situation we're all in. Called the day before departure to go to The Inn at Spanish Bay to see if everything was open and to make sure all the restaurants and Spa was open. They flat out lied to me. You couldn't eat indoors. It's November, eating outside and freezing your ass off. You could sit on the patio to have drinks, but you had to order food. You couldn't go inside by the fireplace to warm up with a drink, you were told to go to your room with your drink. This is what they promote as open. If they told me the truth, we would have postponed the trip. They flat out lied to me the day before flying out from Chicago. The only saving grace was the golf was fantastic. We cut the trip short by 3 days. The cost for the short trip was not worth it. Don't believe them when asking what's open. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If you can't travel - experience local!

Nov 3rd, 2020

So sunset over looking the Pacific is always fantastic, and how lucky to walk from home down to the Inn at Spanish Bay for a casual dinner on their terrace. There is enough room between tables for social distancing - which is great. We had burgers, fries, and cocktails. As is the tradition, the bagpiper strolled by at sunset, that was a treat too. It was like being on vacation and we had only to walk a few blocks!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Thank you so much to the folks at Inn at Spanish Bay, for helping my family last Sunday afternoon, when we had a bad bicycling accident! We did not manage to even eat any food at the Inn, due to the weather, but I hope this review helps travelers know about the outstanding service we received at the Inn, even though we were not guests. My family would definitely like to come back and enjoy good food and drinks at the outdoor seating area, when weather permits us too, again. We were on a one-day escape down to Monterey for some kayaking and e-bike riding (I do not recommend. Use regular bikes next time). During our ride on 17-mile drive, my son's bike skidded off the road on the gravel and he fell hard on his arm and scraped up his legs, too. So we sat with our bikes by the side of the road and I washed off his cuts, etc. He couldn't move his injured arm without pain, so we could not get back on bikes to go back or go anywhere. A nice lady in a van stopped to talk to us, and she took my son (adult son) to the closest place: the Inn at Spanish Bay. I had never been there before, but I trusted everyone to help because I knew he needed his wounds cleaned and his arm iced. We were dressed only in shorts and light shirts and he was getting cold and the weather was cloudy and windy; I wanted him to get somewhere he could sit besides in the dirt at the side of the road. He went to the Inn, while I waited with the bikes until the rental company came to pick me up (since I cannot ride 2 bikes at once), about 10 or 15 minutes later. They took care of the bikes and dropped me off at the Inn. By the time I had arrived at the Inn, they had already cleaned up my son's cuts and got him a bag of ice and all sorts of first aid band-aids, etc., and made him comfortable on a bench (can't stay inside due to COVID) with a water bottle. The manager took me to the store to get some Advil for my son, and he insisted on comp'ing it. After that, we went out to the bar area which has a gorgeous view of the bay, with some nice benches and fire pits. We were about to order some food and drinks when it started raining! They made everyone move out of the open area because of the risk of lightning, so we couldn't order anything, after all. Shortly after that, my husband and the rest of my family arrived to pick us up, and we had to leave to go get some food elsewhere, sine the threat of a lightning storm would not allow outdoor serving. Such are the times..... But I do wish to return! For the gorgeous view, enticing menu, and outstanding hospitality! I am very grateful for the kind lady who helped us, and the generosity of the Inn when they cared for my son! This seems to be a place that really understands what it means to 'serve others' and care for others. I am confident all their other services must engender these principles. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Absurd and Irrational Management during Wildfires

Aug 20th, 2020

I had a horrible experience with the management and staff of Pebble Beach resorts during the recent wildfires. When I booked I booked a nonrefundable room (clearly due to Covid concerns. Clearly this was understood both parties and was excepted. Things have since changed given the recent wildfires. The entire area is being severely impacted from a health and safety standpoint. Evacuations are widespread and air quality is extremely dangerous especially for a family vacation with two toddlers and a pregnant wife. Doctors have advised heavily against going to the area but the resort is not accommodating other than providing us 7 days to make up the trip which is absurd and doesn’t change much of anything, the other option is to receive a credit for our $350/nt room to use at a later date for a $1200 room. Convenient way to drive additional revenue if you ask me. One would think at the end of the day $350/nt for 2 nights is not worth it to them in the grand scheme of things. Very shortsighted. Birthday Celebration and Pebble Beach Wine Festival

Jun 24th, 2020

I am bit late in writing this review but we stayed in April 2019. We came in for my husband’s 50th birthday celebration and stayed at the Pebble Beach Lodge before ending the remainder of our week at Spanish Bay. We attended the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival and the Spanish Bay was fully booked due to the festival. The room at the lodge was bigger but the ocean views and views of the golf course from the Spanish Bay were spectacular. There was a fireplace in the room. The restaurant was phenomenal. When you wake up and go to sleep with these views you can’t help but to feel grateful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
