Overview

Boutique hotel with a trendy rooftop bar and excellent customer service
Few on-site amenities

Perched in midtown Manhattan, this European-style boutique hotel provides guests with sweeping skyline views from its stylish Upstairs at the Kimberly rooftop bar. Apart from this super-swanky night spot, recent guests praise the on-site fitness center and complimentary access to any New York Health & Racquet Club. And as far as the rooms are concerned, previous visitors compliment the luxurious Frette linens, soft feather beds and flat-screen TVs. Previous visitors give a nod of approval to the hotel's modern decor and close proximity to New York's iconic top attractions and vibrant neighborhoods, but say the top-notch service is the real highlight.

The interior design [of the hotel's rooftop bar, Upstairs] is a stunning mixture of punk rock and Louvre palace, with furniture by Mooi of the Netherlands and a bar-counter of hand-cut rubbed bronze.

A certain diplomatic air hangs over the Kimberly. It's proximity to the United Nations makes it a popular hotel with diplomats and politicians, particularly when the U.N. General Assembly is in session.

Dining

Bistango serves Italian cuisine focusing on seasonal and sustainable ingredients. Empire Steak House dishes out upscale American fare. The real star, though – mostly for its amazing 360-degree city views – is the bar Upstairs, atop the building’s 30 floors. Upstairs serves a breakfast buffet on weekdays, an a la carte brunch menu on weekends in the mornings and small plates at other times of the day.
