Boutique hotel with a trendy rooftop bar and excellent customer service
Few on-site amenities

Perched in midtown Manhattan, this European-style boutique hotel provides guests with sweeping skyline views from its stylish Upstairs at the Kimberly rooftop bar. Apart from this super-swanky night spot, recent guests praise the on-site fitness center and complimentary access to any New York Health & Racquet Club. And as far as the rooms are concerned, previous visitors compliment the luxurious Frette linens, soft feather beds and flat-screen TVs. Previous visitors give a nod of approval to the hotel's modern decor and close proximity to New York's iconic top attractions and vibrant neighborhoods, but say the top-notch service is the real highlight.

The interior design [of the hotel's rooftop bar, Upstairs] is a stunning mixture of punk rock and Louvre palace, with furniture by Mooi of the Netherlands and a bar-counter of hand-cut rubbed bronze.

Many staff members have worked at the hotel for more than 20 years; that's almost unheard of in Manhattan. Their comfort and happiness in the job extends into their treatment of the guests, many of whom they know by name. Porters tell jokes and talk about the news of the day as they welcome visitors to the hotel.
