Nice not great

Apr 21st, 2019

Nice hotel but showing it’s age - a bit far from everything but we were part of a conference. A mix-up with rooms resulted in mis-placed baggage so we lost 1.5 hours sorting that. The food was excellent but opening & closing times of food places was unusual given the lack of shops in the vicinity. Very nice bar but under-staffed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not a five star hotel or even four!

Apr 21st, 2019

I spent one night at the Langham and would not return as I prefer hotels that are able to deliver more personal service with grace.I also like accurate websites with actual room photos that show a guest what they will receive. I will admit it was Easter weekend which made the hotel extra busy but on every level I was disappointed. On checking in I was asked to wait while two front desk staff tried to fix room problems for another guest. After five minutes I was checked in and given a key to my room. (I knew from checking the resort map finding anything would be a problem) I asked if there wasn’t someone who could escort me to my room and one of the staff agreed to do so. Unfortunately, this young man had not been taught practical manners to use with a guest, particularly a female one. He walked through doors first, only took my small case after I tripped over it, and did not show me the details of my suite until I asked. He was unfamiliar with the bedroom location and thought it was in a closet. The biggest problem with the hotel appeared at bedtime in the guise of fireworks from a very late wedding party, extreme room noise from a neighbor’s plumbing, and various disturbances which continued all night long. The morning was blissfully quiet but then I’m not a late sleeper. I found my suite depressing: the decor was like a bad Holiday Inn and in no way resembled the website photos. In fact, I was shocked at the difference and think it is outrageous. It’s very difficult to maintain a large hotel like this one and to train staff well in today’s world. The biggest disappointment to me was the online illusion of luxury and service in comparison to the reality of rooms with heavy, brown furnishings, no charm, incredible noise all night and staff that are overworked and untrained. Classic elegantly styled hotel

Apr 20th, 2019

I stayed at the Huntington hotel over 4 nights as part of a conference. The hotel is located in the lovely leafy LA area on the hills of Pasadena.
Built around 1906 it abounds in turn of the century elegance with historic artworks & beautiful decor.
The staff are really service oriented with pleasant smiles & helpful attitudes.
My room was on the 7th floor & had lovely views towards the mountains. Tons of room &
included a fully stocked bar refrigerator & a Nespresso machine.
The room was spotlessly clean with bath/shower including high quality toiletries.
Room service was very thorough.
There are a number of restaurants & bars to choose & I found the quality of the food to be excellent. The Royce steakhouse restaurant was fantastic. Steaks grilled over wood fires have the most exquisite flavour. Possibly one of the best steaks I have had!! The wait staff there were fantastic. Friendly & extremely knowledgeable. Thanks guys for a great night.
There is an outdoor pool & a good gym is also available to guests.
There is also a free shuttle car service into the old Pasadena town area for drop off & pick up for hotel guests. I had a very interesting conversation with Tony, my driver. Really professional . A very personable a bloke.
Overall the Huntington is certainly a 5 star hotel & i recommend it highly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Historic Hotel

Apr 19th, 2019

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds that you can walk and explore. Rooms have timeless classic decor and are spacious and clean. The beds and pillows are so comfortable you will want to take them home! Food and drinks at the hotel can be expensive so consider eating out. The hotel offer a free shuttle service to nearby places which is extremely helpful. Overall, a lovely place to stay TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Langham Amazes!!!!

Apr 19th, 2019

This is the easiest review I have ever written. When you are visiting the Pasadena area you MUST stay at the Langham. From making the reservation (recommendations from the folks at reservations were soooo helpful!!), to checking out, this hotel met and exceeded by miles our expectations. It has the classic charm and ambiance of Old Hollywood while providing most everything any traveler could ask for in contemporary travel accommodations. I would highly recommend, if you can splurge, staying on the Langham Club Level. This club level will, I assure you, make any other club level pale in comparison. Morning, Noon and Night it provides food and beverage (and I mean QUALITY food and beverages) service to Club Level Guests. All of this in a hotel that sits in the very quiet ,serene setting of the San Marino community and just a steps away from the Huntington Library. Don't miss this wonderful Hotel if you are staying in the Pasadena Area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
