Our new 4th tradition

Jul 21st, 2019

Ahhh Pasadena, every time we visit it’s like we’re going back in time to Mayberry. Everyone is calm, happy and generally beautiful. Nothing epitomizes this better than the Langham Huntington. The rooms are traditional and impeccable. There is great attention to detail from Nespresso machines in the rooms, loofah sponges in the shower, and gifts for the kids upon arrival. The new games area for kids is so fun for ALL ages. Also there are afternoon teas for kids and a fun pool side vibe. We’ve been coming here for the 4th of July and it’s so festive I can’t imagine being anywhere else. The Langham is in a lovely neighborhood surrounded by craftsman style mansions. We walked and biked through these areas and the kids loved it. We also saw the fireworks show at the park on Old Mill Street. The hotel staff at this hotel are second to none - they went above and beyond for us and always with a smile and friendly hand. We became quite close to a few of them and my kids started to recognize and anticipate seeing a few of them regularly. I’ve posted pictures and appreciate all they did to make this a special weekend. We love this place and cannot day enough good things about it! The only drawback is the food selection as I wasn’t satisfied w the selection or quality for the high prices at the Terrace. But that was fine given all the the other spectacular amenities and service! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Grounds at Old School Hotel

Jul 19th, 2019

The Langham is a beautiful old school hotel. The grounds are gorgeous with a Japanese garden. Currently, they also have games set up on one of the tennis courts for youth - mini golf, a pool table, fooz ball, giant chess and connect four. My husband and I played pool there last night while two others played some miniature golf. We stayed in the Lanai building in 1314. The room is a bit dated looking but there is a Bose stereo/radio. I couldn’t find any usb ports for charging so bring your phone 🔌. We faced the pool and sat on the balcony a lot. Many people and families use the pool but it never seemed loud or raucous. The room is very private because a tree grows in front of room 1314. If you like an unobstructed view, don’t stay in 1314. The black out curtains work great. Dogs are pretty prevalent here. I saw a pit bull sitting with a woman near the pool, a woman carrying a 30 pound dog into the Tap Room where we were listening to jazz. She sat him on her lap. There was a young man walking a small dog into the pool area and a family playing with their medium-sized dog on the great lawn. I’m not sure if they only have dogs in certain rooms so if you have allergies, you may want to inquire. They couldn’t find our reservation when we first got here which was rather concerning. We had to pull up the email confirmation from the hotel on the cell phone and forward it to the front desk. They upgraded us for the trouble but it was a bit stressful as there was a long line of people behind us. There was no water in the room - even for purchase so bring your own bottle or get cups of water near the front desk. The fitness area is very nice but quite a hike from the rooms as it’s in a separate building near the entrance and seems to require climbing stairs. Gary at the front desk was very helpful when we were looking for the fitness center and needed some more keys. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice but not perfect

Jul 18th, 2019

We arrived at night and had a lot of difficulty locating our cottage. The night manager gave us the incorrect code to the gate. Back we went to the front desk. Turns out the porch light was out or didn't work so we had to return to the front desk (some distance away) at least 3x before we were able to access our cottage. The cottage itself was nice. Large bathroom, bedroom and living room. We did have to walk back to the main hotel for breakfast and dinner. The reason we booked a cottage is because there were no suites available when we booked. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and the location is good in Pasadena. The hotel is huge and it's easy to get lost inside. There is a nice pool outdoors. The food was excellent, especially the Steak House. So there are plusses and minusses with this place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I Love the Langham!

Jul 15th, 2019

Beautiful property! I stayed at the Langham last week and really enjoyed myself. My mom was celebrating her 80th birthday. Elegant, classy and welcoming. I love the old world charm. Comfortable roomy rooms! The staff is friendly and first class! Very upscale experience! Would definitely stay again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
