Great Hotel & Location

Aug 8th, 2019

It was so nice to be in DC again after a three year hiatus. The sites and restaurants were on our agenda. We ended up at the Liaison on recommendation of a friend, and what a great referral it was! LOCATION: I don’t think you can get any closer to DC’s major sites than this. It’s literally one block away from the Capitol, Supreme Court and the start of the National Mall with all of its museums, so foot mobile was easy and ride sharing affordable. CHECK IN: As soon as we pulled up to the entrance we were immediately greeted by the valet and bell staff. Doors opened, luggage handled. Registration was a breeze and the gal who assisted us was welcoming and professional. A friendly gentleman escorted us to our room and informed us of the hotel’s offerings. LOBBY: Very modern and chic with warm tones abound. The Art Bar acts as the hotel’s restaurant, lobby bar and lounge. ROOM: The room was quiet, spacious and featured all the usual amenities including modern features like strong Wi-Fi and numerous power outlets for all of our gadgets. Bedding was very comfortable, the a/c ice cold with plentiful channels on the tube for everyone. Housekeeping was good and very appreciative as they even left us a thank you note for the tip, a rarity these days. BATHROOM: The single basin and shower/tub both had good water pressure and drainage. Bath amenities were subtle-scented, and the body lotion not oily, all pluses for me. POOL: Located on the rooftop, the city hotel-sized pool is complete with a bar, tables, cabanas, and lawn games. During our stay, they had a special tribute to Apollo 11’s 50th anniversary of the moon landing, with the area decked out in space décor and themed-drinks with passed hors d’oeuvres. Bar and wait service were exceptional. CHECK OUT: Easy breezy and friendly. TIPS: Ice machines are located near the elevators. They’re a dog-friendly hotel, as how most of DC is. OVERALL: We had a great stay and can’t wait to come back. Hopefully it won’t be another three long years! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing location.

We stayed for three nights as the starting point of a road trip. The hotel is clean, comfortable and has the perfect location for those who like to explore on foot. We walked the entire capital Mall in a day and made it into downtown too. Food and drink is very overpriced (like most of Washington) and the shower in the room was a bit ropey for a 4* hotel. Great hotel and location.

Aug 5th, 2019

Stayed here for 3 nights with 2 deluxe king rooms. Excellent service from Olay the reception manager. And bar and restaurant and housekeeping staff were friendly and professional. It’s a great location for the key tourist attractions and there are taxis outside. Rooms were a great size and of a reasonable spec. Clean and no issues. Pool is a real bonus although it can get crowded because everyone agrees it’s great! Bar has a great range of craft beers and the restaurant food is better than most hotels. It’s great to have Starbucks across the street and this always waiting at the door. So all great except for one thing. And it’s no fault of the hotel.... Personal security in the street outside the hotel is a concern. The level of homelessness nearby, the number and aggression of beggars is scary! We live in a city and visit many too. But across London, Milan, Barcelona and Glasgow etc etc this is the worst we have seen. DC need to address this fast! Be careful, take a cab and you’ll be fine. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dont stay here

Aug 4th, 2019

I just joined trip advisor to write this review. If you have a family don't stay here. I would not stay anywhere near the Capital. 1) Homeless are very aggressive. We were accosted every time we exited the hotel and they got violent (we are from chicago and these are worse than any heroin/crack addicts we have ever encountered). This happened on hotel property also. At one point we saw a woman almost get physical with a doorman. We feel sorry for these people but they get violent when you say no! I told them no and they started asking my daughters for money. Its worse than any other area. The Hilton is across the street but the agressiveness of the homeless is crazy 2) It is right next to a fire department. Noisy if you face the steet. 3) Parking is.....get this...59 dollars a day for in and out. You have to valet..or your car can just sit in the garage for 50 dollars a night with no in and out. The Valet man was nice but language barrier bigtime. He didnt understand me. The garage around the corner is half. 4) Pool closes at 8PM for anyone under 21 years old. So kids who like to swim (including 20 year olds) are out of luck after a day out and eating dinner. 5) We tried to get snacks and they have only two vending machines for a ten story hotel. One was empty (totally empty) and the other did not work. The management was bewidered when I told them this. Then the next shift came in and I heard someone asking about the machines and the new staff told them "floor 9 and floor 3" apparently nobody passed it on. 6) Mold in our room. We relocated to a different room. We did notice paint on the ceiling. I am hoping that someone just didnt spray the area with bleach (if there was mold) with bleach and paint over it. Positives...The afternoon manager was extremely polite! He refunded our money for the next two nights with ease. The guy should be working at a 5 star hotel and leave the place. The midnight doorman was awesome. He actually volunteered to get me snacks at a store after learning that the vending machines were all out of stock broken. He did not suggest walking anywhere. The crazy cost of parking, the hotel plus the resort fee are going to run you the same or less than a premium hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location, Location, Location

The location is perfect to visit all the main memorials or tourist sites you want to see. The hotel is only a short walk from Capital Hill, then a turn right you have the Washington Memorial, the WW2 memorial, the Smithsonian Museums and then the Lincoln Memorial. I did find the hotel a bit corporate though, there was a business conference in at the time we were there, so the restaurant and bar was very busy. The rooms are clean and functional with everything you need, I did feel however that an upgrade to the decor would be a good idea and the hotel in general does look a bit tired.
