Added Stress at the Liberty

Aug 25th, 2019

After a year in the planning for our daughters wedding at the Liberty, and requesting early check in with having over 150 guests arriving the day before the wedding, some of our family were forced to go to another hotel as their rooms were "not available," many of us, our guests and family were delayed to get into their reserved rooms for hours after the posted check in time or got inferior rooms . All we received was "we are sorry" and "hope that next time at the Liberty will be a better experience for you." As we were already at a high stress level due to the nature of the event, this malarkey at the hotel just made for a hugely exhausting time full of stress and no help from the Liberty Staff. I complained to the manager on the website, but he no longer worked there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay in Boston

Aug 22nd, 2019

We were only in Boston for a night, but had a wonderful time and a great stay at The Liberty. Special thanks and kudos to Zack, who could not have been more helpful with our accommodations and also turned us on to Tatte Bakery, an all-time great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Neat hotel

Aug 19th, 2019

I never thought that I would sleep so well in a prison, but it was a great experience. The food was great, the rooms were very unique and all the prison theme was tastefully done and not over the top at all. Highly recommend staying here. Would be five stars if it were not for the club atmosphere in the lobby. Wasn't ready for that in my 40s with kids, but would have loved it in my 20s before kids. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great view but mismatch of Price and value/service, Complete disappointment

Aug 19th, 2019

We are Boston locals, I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my pup so my husband Booked liberty for a surprise staycation for my birthday. This hotel has great location, gorgeous lobby, the room was thoughtfully styled and good for photos. The rooms on the one side of the hotel faces the cold hospital(MGH) wall, huge price different in rooms you depend on the view you are getting. Luckily we got upgraded to a room with fabulous view of beacon hill/charles river with Marriot Platinum Elite. However, our overall experience of staying of this hotel is a complete disappointment. We are frequent traveller stayed with a number of Marriot properties all over the world, this is by far the worst experience of all. First time staying with luxury collection and not a good start. Ritz is way better in almost every perspective, big or small. 1.Bed/Room: The bed and bedding was not comfortable at all. Don't know how to describe it but it cause my back pain. You would expect a quiet room and good night of sleep grantee at a luxury hotel. But in our case, no, not at all. The rooms are not insulated at all, you can hear: people on the same floor open/close door, people next door showering and constriction on the street at 2 am. The uncomfortable bed and the noise of people of the the same floor open/closing door kept her up all night 2. Pet friendly is just some fancy advertisement Our experience showed that hotel only charge to pet fee to allow you to bring the dog with you, is that going to be any helpful guide to help you make your stay with your furry friend less stressful?? None of their business. While some other hotels allow you to bring your dog for free, some only charges a small extra. Liberty charges $100 with little service provide to your pup. We also mentioned at check in that our dog is staying with us, the front desk person also saw our dog. All they mentioned is there is a dog event going on in the yard (two days a week) which we can bring our pup to. Later we learned that the happy hour event can get out of control easily, its off-leash event and people are too busy enjoying themselves with a drink in hand and not watching their dog. No potty area was mentioned to us either, so I guess the yard is the place to go?? - Amenities: Normally you can expect basic amenities (bowls, bed .etc) provided with the extra pet fee, especially with this significant amount at a luxury hotel. However, when we get to the room, there is no sign that the room is welcoming our dog. We called the service line and 10 mins later they brought a very small (prob fits 20lbs dog bed) and ONE metal feeding bowl. Our dog is med-large size and this bed was way way too small for her. The person brought the bed saw our dog but ignore the fact that this bed won't fit her at all and walked away. - Dog friendly?: When I did my research, I read that one of the restaurant with patio on site will allow us to dine with our dog. To our surprise, the staff told us they don't allow dogs and our only option is to order some appetizer from the clink bar in the lobby and sit there and eat. - Noise: Like I mentioned before, the rooms are not insulated, so unless your dog is not alarm to noise at all (people open/ close door thru out the night) you can expect some guarding (low bark) from your pup. 3. Service: We requested late check out and was kindly guaranteed and showed on the app. At 9 am, the cleaning lady came knocking on our door and as we were getting ready to open the door she knocked the second time and then processed to used her key to access our room. Quite surprised that happens and it has never happened to us before at any of the pervious hotel stays. If there is any thing to blame on our part if we didn't put the DND sign out thinking they should already know they we are checking out that day. Apparently they don't communicate with the staffs, even regarding check out status, let alone the late check out part. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Liberty and it is spectacular. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and professional, offering us an upgrade eventhough the hotel was extremely busy. The overall ambiance is impossible to recreate and we WILL be back. One negative was a charge to use the business center printer which just didn't fit with the rest of the amenities being so plentiful. Make no mistake, this is an expensive hotel, but it was worth the money. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
