Simply Amazing

Aug 17th, 2019

This hotel was amazing from the very beginning. Room was outstanding - a suite. All staff were very friendly. Location was excellent. In walking distance to many great restaurants, a grocery store, the bus station, park for kids, etc. Food was amazing. All meals in their restaurant were excellent. Staff there were very friendly as well. While pool was heated it was still very cold. But beautiful. Two cons: the gym was disappointing. For a luxury, five star hotel I expected more. It's quite small. Also, while I did not actually experience the spa, based on what I saw it was not an actual five star luxury spa that I'd expect at this type of venue and as such decided I would wait to experience the spa at our next hotel. So while I cannot rate the actual services, there were only rooms for services but no separate spa area with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc. that I've had at other five star hotels. Five Stars is Not Enough

Aug 2nd, 2019

I have recently started posting TripAdvisor reviews because I often review the site myself before booking a hotel. My husband and I have been frequent visitors to The Little Nell for many years; both in the Winter and Summer so this review is long overdue. The Little Nell is not only the best hotel in Aspen (and we have stayed at other 5 star hotels in town) it is one of the best hotels we have ever frequented. The hotel exudes sophistication in a warm and welcoming way and the staff is superb! Everyone from the Front Desk, Bell Stand, Concierge, Ski Concierge, In Room Dining, Restaurant and Housekeeping staff are friendly, responsive and no request is ever out of reach. The rooms and property are beautifully appointed and the location, at the base of Aspen Mountain, is not to be beat. There is an elegance to The Little Nell that exists in very few places. If you stay there once you will never stay anywhere else in Aspen and you will be greeted by name and with a smile every time you return. I would like to note that this most recent trip was to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. I worked with the events team and we had a private afternoon party at the Aspen Mountain Club through The Little Nell. The event’s team was amazing and the party was so wonderful; the location and the food was amazing and oh what a view. Not only do I recommend the hotel, but if you have something to celebrate this is the place to do it! So all in all, thank you to everyone at The Little Nell for many years of wonderful ski and Summer holidays and, particularly for making this last stay so special with a wonderful party that created fantastic memories for myself and my family. Horrible from check in and then got worse

Jul 27th, 2019

Checked into a “mountain facing” room that had a tree in front of it with only a view of pine cones and an occasional squirrel. No Mountain View. Booked a spa package that we were told at booking provides a treatment every day. Upon arrival it was good for one day. You can book a separate reservation each day and get the treatment, just not if you book consecutive days. Feel very mislead about every part of this visit. Not how business in this industry should be conducted. Will never be back. The St. Regis is nicer, better priced and 1000x more accommodating. Feels like we were scammed. Horrible. Charity Event

Jul 17th, 2019

My wife and I attended an Aspen Valley Hospital appreciation event in the bar and the service was exceptional as well as a number of appetizers they were passing. This is a great venue for a classy yet comfortable event. Consider this for your next gathering! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Completely Over Rated

They advertise, recently renovated. Either our room was not, or it was a renovation on par with a Hampton Inn. Fresh paint (white) and carpet. Hooray, Hampton Inn's are priced accordingly. The Little Nell is NOT. My agent did not mention a "resort fee" of more than $150.00 dollars, billed twice, for a 4 night stay, nor was it mentioned by The Little Nell to us, at check in. The Little Nell has nothing Resort worthy! Their pool, which the restaurant is uncomfortably close to, looks like a pond. No tennis courts, lap pool, kiddie pool, slides. Nothing! Not even horse shoes, bocce Ball, a walking/meditation garden, of resort fee caliber! Our first encounter with the resort fee was on our check out bill. When questioned, we were told: Oh, it covers Wifii, transportation within city limits and unlimited mini bar snacks. News to us. Wifii for our room caliber, is usually free at every 5 star we stay in. Transportation.....Aspen is small. Mini bar snacks, thanks for the Costco run. Guests there are in good shape. I am guessing they are not eating hundreds of dollars of mini bar snacks. Never mentioned for our stay we would be charged $13.00 in "front Drive Gratuities." A little late. We slipped drivers and the concierges cash. Never mentioned the $2.00 at day environmental fee. Just would have appreciated knowing tack ons. Service was very weak and not professional. Numerous looks from staff similar to a deer in headlights. Not prepared for the holiday weekend rush. Restaurant had long waits for tables, coffee, orders etc. Turndown service was early. The attendant seemed annoyed when at 5:50pm or 6pm she was ready to do turndown and were were getting showered/prepared for a 7:30pm dinner. Reviewing the bill again, I phoned management to mention my disappointment at seemingly being ripped off for their so called "resort fee." K.F. from management spoke over me and was argumentative. Again lame service. How they are rated as a 5 Star completely shocks us. Aspen is a beautiful area. We stayed at another hotel in town during ski season and had a wonderful experience!
