According to recent guests, The Lodge at Sea Island is Southern luxury at its finest. While staying here, travelers will have access to championship golf courses and multiple top-notch restaurants. After a day spent golfing or on the beach, guests can kick back in rooms that are outfitted with Oriental rugs, spacious bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs and rain-head showers as well as butler service. If you're having trouble deciding between The Lodge and its sister property, The Cloister at Sea Island, keep in mind that the latter often sees more families. On the other hand, previous guests say that the smaller Lodge's quieter ambiance might better suit couples. Another perk for romance-seekers is the on-site restaurant, Colt & Alison, which serves up prime cuts of beef and fresh seafood in an intimate atmosphere. The resort sits on the southern tip of Sea Island, Georgia, about 86 miles south of Savannah.

Perks of staying at this genteel country resort (just off southeastern Georgia’s Atlantic coast) include private butlers and access to three legendary golf courses—complete with marsh and St. Simons Sound views, as well as a roaming bagpiper in the evenings.

The entryway is reminiscent of scenes from Forrest Gump, trees lining the pathway that leads to The Lodge. Inside, a butler awaits to show you to your room on one of the two floors.

Truly luxurious digs, with rooms decked out in an elegant South-meets-English manor house style. It’s a relatively tranquil getaway, with expansive ocean views, and justly popular with golfers given the courses that surround it.

Guests should note that some features — such as the beach, spa, and swimming pool — are located at the sister property, The Cloister, which is too far to walk to; however, there's a free regular shuttle there and back. Families will probably prefer a room at The Cloister so they can access the beach, pool, and family-friendly restaurants without the shuttle ride.
