Wonderful Location for Vacation Stop

Mar 17th, 2020

Originally my wife and I reserved a room for three days. The coronavirus unfortunately caused us to have to cancel a two night stay in Charleston. Our problem became an opportunity for The Lodge. We extended our stay to five days. Nice problem solved. We were upgraded to the Plantation Suite. A huge room with two complete bathrooms, a sitting area, a bedroom, dressing areas, and an outdoor veranda. It was easy to get lost in our suite. Big and very comfortable. The hotel staff was great. Very accommodating and friendly. As an example, we asked if there was a refrigerator in the room. There was not. But within a few minutes a butler showed up with a mini-refrigerator for us to use. How accommodating! Each day a bagpiper played. Fun to listen to from our veranda as we sipped a glass of wine before dinner. We really enjoyed our stay here. We will definitely come back. Golf, Golf and more Golf

Mar 7th, 2020

Sea Island lives up to their Forbes 5 Star and AAA 5 Diamond rating! We visited the resort for a long golf weekend and our expectations were not only met but exceeded. The Lodge is spectacular and has the intimacy of a country estate with luxurious, well appointed and spacious rooms. The butler service allowed for a personalized experience and assisted greatly with our agenda. The Seaside and Plantation courses are beautiful, well manicured and a great test of golf. The caddie program is in a class of their own-well trained and experienced. The Club fitting experience is detailed and precise for your swing. The Golf lessons are enlightening with not too many swing thoughts presented. They focus in on 1 or 2 important ideas after reviewing your swing with all of the latest technology. The improvement center is spectacular which can be used in inclement weather. The also have a golf fitness center and is used to strengthen all parts of your swing. The Food and Beverage offerings range from decadent southern comfort food to dry or wet aged beef. The service is true southern hospitality provided by a team that is warm and gracious. Save some time for the fitness center and a spectacular indoor pool located at the Cloister. Transportation is offered if needed. The shooting school is also a memorable experience due to the setting and the coaching offered. So much to do! We will have to come back soon!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A dining experience.

I have eaten here on several occasions and attended a wedding rehearsal dinner and have not been disappointed. Food and service is excellent. Also watching and listening to the bagpipes is wonderful. Sitting outside enjoying the sea air and watching kids and adults putting is very entertaining. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Golf Performance Improvement and Playing Experience

Jan 24th, 2020

Great resort, uber friendly staff, good value in off season. We were lucky to have perfect January weather. If you want to improve your golf and enjoy 5 star courses this is a great choice. A little weak in the restaurant area at the golf resort due to temporary closure of the main restaurant. Didn't mind going into town (5 minutes) or free shuttle to the cloisters. a step backward--the Lodge is tired and needs work

Jan 21st, 2020

we have been to Sea Island many times. all other trips have been good to excellent. this one was terrible. the new rooms in the Lodge overlooking the arrival court have no view, no seating area, no full length mirror, no make-up mirror, bathroom is too large and bedroom is too small. a large ship is capsized right offshore, but there was no mention of this at time of booking. a smart operator would not only tell people, but make a point of giving something to make up for this. restaurants in the Lodge were closed during our stay; we were not told at time of booking. if we had known, we might have stayed at the Cloister instead. we were not told about the place that was serving breakfast, so we paid double to have in-room dining. breakfast should be free when the restaurants are closed. food at Tavola was mediocre.
