Pricey resort

This is a great hotel, the breakfast was very good, staff excellent. Noisy aircon let it down though. It has a lovely pool area although we did not get to use it as we were busy hiking the amazing surrounding area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

OVERVIEW: My husband and I spent a few nights here celebrating our one year anniversary. We were very pleased with the friendliness and welcoming hotel staff. We were surprised with a celebratory fruit/chocolate display and a bottle of champagne in our room, which was a very kind gesture. The location of the hotel is perfect!!! Right next to a Gondola One, and steps away from Vail Village. In short, we really enjoyed our stay. THE ROOM: We stayed in a studio queen suite. The bed was a Murphy bed - not the most comfortable, but we chose this option to have the studio style room (kitchen + small living area, fireplace.) From the stock photos, and based on the price we paid per night, we were expecting a bit more of an ‘upscale’ feel. Our room had a rustic, lodge feel (as expected in a Ski Village), but less of a glamorous look/feel than we had hoped. It’s relatively old looking but did have a wonderful scent in the air (perhaps scented firewood?!) The hotel offers complimentary turn down service, which we had opted for, but they only came one of the nights. Our room view was the parking lot, but we chose to save money and not pay for the upgraded views. (Keep your blinds closed if so!!) POOL: Like many other reviews, we found the pool area crowded with minimal seating. We had to spend some time sitting on the concrete until lounge chairs freed up as other guests left. The bar is only open until 5pm, but it would’ve been nice to get a cocktail/drink in later hours. The water was cold in the main pool (even during 85* summer temps), but the hot tubs were wonderful. Overall though, having a pool available for summer use was a big perk, as not all hotels have this option in Vail! SERVICE: Our only complaint for the long weekend, is very minimal, but for us coffee lovers it made a difference. We called down to the front desk, and even stopped on our way in after dinner one evening, and asked for the coffee in our room to be refilled for the next morning, as we were only given it once. Seeing as the “resort fee” covers this cost, we thought it would be available everyday, but sadly our coffee supply was never re-stocked from the initial bag provided when checking-in. The hotel has a concierge which was helpful in giving ideas of local and resort activities during our stay, as well as restaurants and bars. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not a good experience for us

Jul 5th, 2019

We've only been here three hours, and the stay so far is pretty bad. Hence the real-time review. The main issue is the noise in our room. It's right by both an elevator and literally three feet from the main door to the stairwell. When we got to our room at 4 pm, there were 4-5 housekeeping staff scurrying about on the floor for several hours. They've been going in and out of the stairwell door near our room every 2-3 minutes, talking loudly to each other and on radios, taking the elevator up and down, etc. The stairwell door shuts with a loud bang. There's only one elevator to this part of the hotel, and it's really slow. As a result, many guests also are giving up and taking the stairs...adding to the number of times the stairwell door opens and slams shut. I imagine other rooms are fine, but ours is terrible. I almost never complain about anything, but in this case I had to. The woman at the front desk was somewhat sympathetic but said there are no additional rooms. I get that, but we're paying more than $400 a night and the stay has been miserable so far. Other issues: The air conditioning unit makes all sorts of weird noises. We went to the pool earlier, and there were no towels, the bar was out of a bunch of things (food and mixers), all the patio furniture was taken - even though there's plenty of room for additional chairs...for some reason there are big areas that have no furniture - and the "heated" pool is frigid. Without these issues, I'm sure our stay - and review - would be different. But I can only speak to our experience, and it's been a bad one. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

great location 2 min walk to gondola

Apr 23rd, 2019

This was a great resort in the main area by the gondola. I used the spa most days- used the sauna, steam room and whirlpool. it had a full spa menu and, while small, had everything u would need or want and never felt crowded. All staff were professional and courteous. also used the outdoor spa pool which was quite and relaxing. Breakfast was great but didn’t eat dinner there. Will go back again for sure! Excellent Sevice

Apr 22nd, 2019

We stayed with our kids and we really enjoyed the location. The apartment we had at the hotel was unit 404. If you like very soft beds then this three bedroom unit is for you (not me). Seems like the mattresses are old and need to be replaced especially in the two upstairs bedrooms which were not queen beds - even in the Master!! The downstairs bedroom had two twin beds. There were many things we had to call maintenance for but they were always at our door within minutes. Have never had such response time in a hotel. Even if we asked for a glass of milk it was there within minutes. The location to Gondola 1 was great but it is a short walk. The lobby is small but they serve a hot chocolate bar and hot apple cider and cookies every day at 3:00. Would suggest they keep it out a little longer for those coming off slopes later. The staff was very friendly and helpful too. Parking a car is costly though. Kitchens in units are smaller than a traditional condo. But with room service we ended up not really using the kitchen. The fireplace was great and there was a supply of wood on the balcony. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
