Wonderful Weekend at the Lombardy

Apr 15th, 2019

I visited NYC with two friends. We stayed in 1604, a lovely, up to date corner suite with a galley kitchen, a large living room, and a king bedroom. The living room had a pull-out sofa so it worked perfectly for us. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bad room - avoid 406

Apr 14th, 2019

This room is at the back of the hotel and you'd think it would be quiet but there was loud noise coming from exhaust fans that ran throughout the night. Difficult to sleep. Also, there was no clock in the room. I called the front desk and they said they couldn't help because "this is a cooperative hotel." Finally, only 1 elevator was working. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lombardy home from home

Apr 13th, 2019

Always stay here as it’s a homely safe feeling as soon as you enter the hotel. From the front desk to the doormen all happy to help you with your needs. Great rooms with no disappointments yet. Home for many years to my idol Bette Davis whenever she stayed in NY. Can’t speak to highly about The Lombardy and will not stay anywhere else. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Variety of rooms

Apr 12th, 2019

This hotel comprises rooms owned by different people and therefore no two rooms are the same. We had a room with a lovely king size bed, small kitchenette (microwave, fridge, plates, cutlery etc.), table with two chairs, lounger, side tables, large tv, large shower area and bathroom. Soap, shampoo etc provided as well as towels. The space was larger than a normal hotel room. The hotel is well situated and only a few blocks from Central Park. Three small blocks from the subway (59th St.). There's a doorman, somewhere to store luggage, friendly front desk staff, lobby seating. There are two lifts but one is undergoing maintenance so there can be waiting involved around breakfast time. Breakfast is included in the price and served in the American Cut restaurant accessed through the hotel lobby area. You do need to grab a voucher from the front desk as it is required to enter the restaurant area. Takeaway food and coffee is available but there is lots of seating. Food includes toast (3 breads), cereal (x2), oatmeal (in packets), scrambled egg (sometimes a bit overcooked), potato gems, bacon (beautifully crisp) and small sausages (a bit bland at times), pastries (3-4 types and warmed and fresh), Greek yoghurt and fruit. Coffee is from urns but not bad. Teabags (a strange range) are also available. Staff are not always engaged with their work but friendly and helpful enough if asked something. There is some building work going on just across the road so there is some noise from time to time but, hey, this is New York and there's always noise anyway. Our sleep wasn't disturbed at all and our room was on that side of the building. Well worth considering if visiting New York. There's also a gym for those who want to spoil their vacation with exercising. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A wonderful place to stay

Apr 8th, 2019

You can't beat the location and the size of the rooms. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The hotel offers a great place to find peace before rushing back into the wild and wonderful craziness of the city. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
