The Perfect Hotel

Jun 14th, 2019

Stayed here for 7 nights with a friend and we loved it. Our room which had 2 double beds also had a separate lounge room and a massive bathroom. The room was exceptionally clean and very quiet. It really was very luxurious and well worth the money. The reception area was being renovated however this did not affect our stay at all. The area was very safe - we walked around everywhere at night including all the broadway shows. Central Park is a short distance away and Times Square also within a quick walking distance plus all the shops of 5th Avenue. We have now moved down to TriBeCa and our hotel for the same price is so disappointing Cannot recommend the London NYC enough TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The only way to do NYC

Jun 14th, 2019

Absolutely stunning remodel. The room was gigantic by New York standards and so comfortable and well appointed. We actually cancelled our dinner plans to be able to stay in and enjoy the room. The staff was absolutely incredible tending to needs you didn’t even know you had! Loved the location, walkable to shows without being too close to Times Square madness and easy access to lower Central Park. This will always be my first choice when coming to NYC! Hellish stay. Maybe better after construction -- but big rooms, Worst conrad I've been to.

Jun 10th, 2019

We knew there was construction and its transitioning from "london nyc" to "conrad midtown" (no restaurant, lobby on second floor). We stayed for 5 nights on 4 different reservations (points, cash, hilton aspire card weekend night, "be our guest voucher" night. Seems Hilton has odd terminology of "standard room" and "standard reward night" (its not the same). We wanted to make sure our "comped" rooms got us a 1Bd suite -- we wrote to the concierge and he said "no problem" and reiterated on checkin (no problem). I would have liked an upgrade (we're diamond) but the clerk just told us "we get the $60 diamond credit and 2 bottles of water (for the stay?) The suite was nice (21 floor, city view), Had a nice waterfall shower --but the TV in the living room didn't work. Two different people came up over two days to try to fix the tv (seems the feed was out). One said "swap the TV" (I didn't understand what they would do since the TV was "working" -- the feed wasn't). I have 35 years experience with computer networks, surprised they don't have a "handheld" tool to see if the feed is working right. Anyway, they swapped the TV, did nothing, then figured out "we can use the feed from the bedroom to drive both tvs" (which worked, but was sloppy). Surprised they have 2 feeds for two TVs (mounted on the same wall -- inside and outside. They offered to put us in another room (we didn't want to move). Then the front desk called us and said "we had to move". We didn't want to, but we seemed to have "no choice". (they said they were closing the floor). I We moved to a park view suite on floor 44 -- it was very nice. I don't know why they didn't give us that room when we checked in. But it didn't not have a waterfall shower, very little water pressure and no hot water in the sink. For for 2 days, I had enough complaining. And I didn't want to move again. My wife took a shower, got into bed and something stuck her. When we looked closer, it was broken glass!! When I went over, something stuck my foot -- it was broken glass. There were 4 broken shards of glass we saw -- the housekeeping manager came up, and had a "runner" change the bedding and vacuum the carpets. First time we saw that -- glad no one was hurt. I gave him the broken glass (so he could see it) -- there also was a button in a wrapper on the floor (an extra button when you buy clothes) -- but it wasn't ours. It was plainly visible at the foot of the bed -- I don't think the room was cleaned properly. The elevators took FOREVER. I joked they wanted to be a "green hotel" -- take the stairs (from the 44th floor?) Most of the time we took the service elevator...and often times the "guest" elevators were used as service elevators -- with laundry and dirty food trays....pretty disgusting. Diamond user get a $60 credit for room service -- but two breakfasts cost $60-$90 + tax + tip + delivery -- so the credit won't even cover breakfast. Our bill wasn't correct -- you have to carefully look at the bill to make sure the charges are right -- found an email address for billing and they gave us the credits we were supposed to get. The suites have no "desks" -- but a "small round dining table" with two chairs". Since I regularly work when we travel with a computer, it would be nice to have a work station with plugs nearby (the rooms are big enough to probably have a work station AND a dining table). We wanted a late checkout. The front desk after much negotiation agreed to 2. But we wanted 4 (we're diamond members). They said the next night they're "fully booked" -- but when I looked at the hilton website -- they had all types of rooms available for that night.l I emailed the GMs office and they gave me until 4. Later I looked at the android app-- it said "no rooms available". I know Hilton has problems with IT from past experiences. Maybe they were fully booked -- maybe not. For all our grief, the said they'd look at the bill and comped the "be our guest stay" (they said use it some other time). But I never heard back, I'm waiting to hear from the GM and I'm going to write to Hilton executive to find out what type of compensation is in order for such an unpleasant experience. Very nice renovation. This will be a fabulous hotel soon.

I stayed here for a night and was pleasantly surprised. The room renovations are wonderful. Large, comfortable rooms with very elegant touches. The staff are welcoming and helpful. When the lobby is complete, this will be a great place to stay. You can’t beat the location for Theatre and dining. Close to Central Park too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
