Great hotel in a great location

Aug 22nd, 2019

We stayed at the Lucerne on the recommendation of friends. The hotel is in a great part of the City, being convenient for sight seeing but away from the chaos of Mid Town. Rooms have been recently updated. We took a 1 bedroom suite. Our two sons stayed on a very comfortable sofa bed in a good sized room. We had a door we could close between them and our room. The hotel was spotless and the staff were all friendly. The hotel has a restaurant Ce Matin downstairs. We had breakfast and dinner there and enjoyed both. The wine list was a real treat. Wonderful NYC hotel - Upper West Side

Aug 21st, 2019

My son and I stayed at the Lucerne Hotel and loved our stay. We had a great home base for our adventures in the city. The subway line is very close, so we could get anywhere we needed to. And we walked to many places too: Central Park is a couple blocks away; the Museum of Natural History too. The Met is across the park, and Midtown is just a few stops away. I appreciated being in more of a neighborhood, so we could walk around after a busy day, trying a local restaurant and having a little breathing room. Hotel staff were helpful upon arrival, providing a bottle of water, a very helpful map, and a warm welcome. We felt very well taken care of for many reasons. Great restaurants nearby: Made in New York Pizza, Amorino's flower shaped gelato cones, Fred's with dog pictures all over the walls, Bagel & Co (closed Saturdays!). Great value! Writing this review is like sharing my best babysitter with friends . . .

Aug 16th, 2019

. . . I want to because it's what I "should" do if I'm a "good" person, but I sort of really want to keep it to myself . . .. My conscience won out. I'm writing this review after my fourth stay at The Lucerne Hotel, in the Upper West Side. First of all, it is a beautiful, old-style boutique hotel in a great location . . . one block from the subway, a few blocks from Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, etc. The lobby is not large, but it feels luxurious and comfortable at the same time, and I've always had a warm greeting by employees. To elaborate on that . . . the staff (every one of them) have always been professional, courteous, attentive, friendly and helpful. I've stayed in, I believe, three different rooms (207 twice and 1007 once . . . don't remember the other one). These rooms have 2 Queens and are connected to the bathroom by a very small, but adequate adjoining room that has a desk and pull-out twin-size sofa. So, if you are looking for comfortable accommodations for a family of five, but want to stay in one space and not book two separate rooms, this works very well. The rooms have always been clean, with tasteful and updated furnishings and decor. The hotel has an afternoon wine reception and fitness center, in addition to 24-hour room service, and the amenities you would expect in a hotel in Manhattan of its size. Many wonderful dining options surround the hotel, including Coppola's West (great Italian restaurant, I've been to multiple times) which is right across the street. Plus, it doesn't hurt that there is an Insommmia's Cookies also across the street. My kids love that. There are a number of excellent pizza and bagel shops nearby as well. Best pizza I've had is across the street from the hotel as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely boutique hotel

Aug 8th, 2019

We have stayed at the Lucerne several times and each time we enjoy the hospitality. The location is wonderful because it is easy to find ice cream, cookies, bagels or a drink just across the street. The doorman is so kind and the reservation desk is always polite and ready to assist with my questions. The rooms are always clean and the bed is comfortable for a good night's rest. The upper floors are a jewel for the view of the city. We are walking distance to the subway and Central Park and the neighborhood always feels safe for me to walk in TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Highly recommended hotel

Very nice hotel with spacious small suites. Well maintained with friendly staff. Reasonably priced for NYC. One block from subway. Two blocks from Museum of Natural History and three from Central Park. Great neighborhood with a huge variety of good restaurants nearby. Good hotel for family tourism or business travelers.
