Great place to stay in the upper west side!

Jan 24th, 2020

The Lucerne Hotel is a great place to stay near lots of great attractions. Very close to the Museum of Natural History and an easy walk to Central Park. Also close to the subway giving you easy access to the city. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance for any time of day. The staff is helpful and friendly. The elevator is a tad slow but eventually comes- plus there’s always stairs if you need to get somewhere in a hurry. We were on the 4th floor so easy to hop on the stairs if we didn’t feel like waiting for the elevator. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Old-fashioned - in a good way

Jan 17th, 2020

The Lucerne is a lovely old building, in a great location on the Upper West Side, close to Central Park and with lots of great shops, restaurants and delis nearby, plus very close to the 79th St subway. The rooms are a decent size, warm, cosy and nicely furnished in an old-fashioned style, the bathrooms being particularly nice with lots of marble. Evetything was very clean, and the rooms were made up nicely every day. It made a great base for a winter break, not cheap but worth it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Misled by Staff - Bugs

Jan 11th, 2020

My family stayed at this hotel in February 2019. The location of the hotel was great and the room was nice, except for the three cockroaches that turned up over four days. We alerted the Director of the Front Office who, unprompted, offered that if we were to come again, he'd like to extend us a free night or discount. He gave us his card, and we thanked him. We appreciated the gesture! Fast forward to this week. We called the hotel to see if they could accommodate us for one night in February. We mentioned the offer from the Front Office to the reservations team. The rep said, "Yes, I see notes about the problems with your stay, but there's no name of a hotel employee here, and no mention of a free night or discount ... so there's nothing I can do for you." We decided to call the Front Office directly to see what they could do. We called three days ago, left a message. No reply. We called again a day later, left a message. No reply. So we booked our upcoming stay at the Moxy Chelsea. In sum, we didn't really mind the bugs that much. This is New York after all. Something could have happened beyond the hotel's control. The poor customer service was in the hotel's control, however. As a result of our overall experience through this week, we couldn't possibly recommend others stay at the Lucerne. p.s. The photo shows one of the little friends who visited us. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place to stay in NYC

Jan 1st, 2020

This is a great location, with a good restaurant next door (nice matin) to boot. The Natural History Museum and planetarium a few blocks in one direction and a major subway line a block in the other director. The staff at this hotel really go out of their way to make guests' stays enjoyable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
