Have stayed at the Lucerne many times, since 2003. Good rooms, efficient service, great location for museums and Lincoln Center. One block walk to the Broadway Subway, re getting downtown. Good restaurants close. Zabar's 2 blocks away.Concierge helpful re tkts, restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I stayed at the Lucerne 8-10 nights (3 visits) in the last six weeks. Each visit my room got smaller. On the last visit I begged for an upgrade because the room was simply too small for two people. By the way, you could nearly touch the bed while standing in the bathroom. My sister arrived that same day and got an amazing (full suite) upgrade. I was staying four nights, but they showed me no appreciation for frequent stays. I am moving to another NYC hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A gem on the Upper West Side

Feb 23rd, 2020

This was my third stay in The Lucerne: another excellent experience. The staff at the hotel and its French restaurant, Nice Matin, are welcoming, warm and professional. The comfortable beds ensure a sound sleep after an action-packed day in New York. Only a block away from a subway stop, we were able to access museums, Times Square, the U.N. and other attractions. Only two blocks from Central Park, we found museums, restaurants, cinema, and shopping within easy walking distance. A friend recommended this hotel years ago - so glad she did. PS easy on/off Henry Hudson Pkwy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable convenient and content at Lucerne Hotel!

Feb 21st, 2020

We had a lovely stay at the Lucerne Hotel on West 79th. Rate was reasonable for a holiday weekend. Check in was fast and pleasant. Everyone was professional. Although our room was not ready at 12pm which we expected we left luggage with concierge. We returned after seeing a matinee show and claimed our luggage. Room was clean tidy and old world elegance. Bathroom was up to date and clean. Room was quiet and very warm and we had a good night sleep. We asked if there was coffee in the room and they said no but they sent up a keurig coffee maker and coffee. We had a delicious dinner at Nicematin a French restaurant adjacent to Lucerne and offers 10% disc on breakfast. There are several options for dinner nearby. Hotel is conveniently located one block from the 79th and Broadway subway stop. We took the #1 subway to theater district. We went to another restaurant for breakfast. It was a nice hotel to stay for a birthday weekend.. Definitely would return. Only negative would be we wish breakfast was included or heavily discounted. They also have a resort fee which seems to be common now. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Even with scaffolding over the front, it was still great value in a great location

Feb 21st, 2020

Have stayed in the Lucerne a few times over the years, and – returning after a four year absence – it was still as great as I remembered. The hotel architecture is currently being renovated so there is black mesh and scaffolding over the building, which makes the rooms a little dark, but it is still lovely inside and great value for money. Our bedroom (309) had two double beds and was huge. There was a little corridor leading to the bathroom, with a built in cupboard (with safe, and handy umbrella) to the left, and the bedroom featured a desk, bedside table, comfortable office chair and big sideboard with a good sized TV and coffee machine. The room was right by the elevators so I was expecting some noise, but it was surprisingly quiet and there was very little street noise either (we were there on Presidents Day so there was no building work taking place). I really feel that the Lucerne is a gem, in a perfect position – near the park, Museum Of Natural History, lots of restaurants, and the subway – with lovely, old-fashioned but clean and spacious rooms, well-equipped bathrooms, a handy business centre with two computers and a printer and the convenience of the Nice Matin restaurant on the ground floor. Best of all are the staff, who were all friendly and really helpful, especially when our flight back to the UK was cancelled and we needed advice on transfers to the airport. I also emailed before arriving to say we would be an early check in and got a speedy response – and our room was ready when we arrived at 11am which was really helpful. Would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and hope it's not as long as four years before I return again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
