Dated but everything else made up for it

Jan 20th, 2020

We just returned from our 3 night stay at this hotel. I have to start off by saying the location is AMAZING. It is so close to everything we wanted to do (stardust diner, radio city music hall, etc.). The rooms are dated, however they are updating the hotel slowly. The staff were phenomenal. We had a problem with our room and they went above and beyond to help us out. There is nothing extravagant about the rooms but they do the job. The location, the friendliness and helpfulness of the satff made up for what the rooms lacked. I am sure we will stay here again if we find ourselves back in NYC! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location but that’s it.

Jan 19th, 2020

We were in town to see Wicked. This hotel was a short 5-10 minute walk to the Gershwin Theatre. Ellen’s Stardust is right around the corner also. The lobby of the hotel was clean and welcoming. Check in was quick and easy. We booked a king suite for two nights. Initial impression of the room was that it was spacious. It had a king bed in a separate room with a tv and a bathroom with a tub. The bed was comfortable. However we found a dirty paper plate in the corner of the room, the dresser, nightstands and office desk were very scratched and the finish wearing away. The cable cord for the tv wasn’t attached, but that was an easy fix. The ceiling in the bathroom above the shower was peeling and someone had scratched their initials into the sink counter. The living room had two queen sleeper sofas. They were as comfortable as a sleeper sofa can be, but we did find a dirty sock that had been left behind. There was a decent size dining table, but one of the chairs had a very loose leg. The room also had a small kitchenette with a mini fridge, a sink and a microwave. Overall the hotel was ok, not worth the $200 a night we paid. The pictures the hotel post are a deceiving. I understand if they are slowly updating, but there should be some kind of mention in the description. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awful hotel!

Jan 19th, 2020

Stayed here for a visit with family, and the customer service is utterly shocking! Staff are rude and unhelpful, rooms are grundy and dirty! We had to move from our first room due to a massive crack in the bathtub. In our second room, the toilet handle was broken which we were unaware of, at least we were until this caused the toilet to flood our entire hotel room! There was no offer to move rooms after this ordeal, staff were blunt and grumpy when we asked for help! The only good thing is the location, close to central park and times square which is great! Shame the staff let the place down so much! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Feeling ripped off

Jan 18th, 2020

We booked a stay at Christmas 2019 for US $1170 it was marked as non refundable however we cancelled 8weeks in advance due to illness We would have been happy to pay 50% but got zero back and no offer of a stay at another time In fact we got no response to our emIl request. We booked 6 months in advance and payed in full so they even got to enjoy our money for an extended time Be aware they are very happy to keep your money and provide no service TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't believe the bad reviews...well worth the price!

Jan 15th, 2020

I booked this hotel based on the overall score on TripAdvisor. Once booked, I came back to read the reviews and my heart sank. I don't usually book a room without reading the reviews but this place has a 4.5 rating, so I felt comfortable. For 2 months I had been dreading this hotel stay. I even apologized repeatedly to my friend booking such a crappy place! Upon arrival, I noticed that the outside of the building was clean and there was a doorman. The inside lobby, again very clean. It was spacious and lots of comfy seating. The cafe' area was also clean and lots of clean tables to use. We checked in with Paolo and he was super cool. We were able to check in early (around noon) without any problems or extra fees! I asked for a higher floor upgrade and that was also not a problem nor did it cost any extra. Our room was on the 22nd floor and faced 51st street. Everything was clean...the beds, the furniture, the floors (they were carpeted but had been vacuumed) the bathroom, all clean! The place is old and some aspects are run down but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. For the little amount of time that were in the room, we were more than pleased with the accommodations. My only complaints are that the tub drained slow (but it was clean, so we dealt with it) and the ice machine on 22 was out of order. We went down to 21 for ice and noticed that the 21st floor lobby was in much better shape than the 22nd floor lobby. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this hotel! We got a killer deal and the location is AMAZING! Even if this place was more expensive, we would still stay here again. Super friendly staff (except for the guy who wouldn't come down off the price of that NYC hoodie...I thought everyone haggled in NY?!?). Clean, comfortable and safe accommodations. I highly recommend this hotel for budget travelers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
