Beautiful place and great staff

Feb 9th, 2020

We did an Anniversary stay-cation for a weekend here. The mansion is just beautiful. The entire staff, all of them, were so incredibly friendly and helpful. The free "Rover" service took us to a museum, picked us up, and took us to lunch. It was so nice. The fireplaces and pool table, bar area, etc. are just lovely. Nice spread for free breakfast. If I had one complaint, it would be the temperature of the room. The programmed thermostat kept going down and the room got quite chilly. I recognize it is a very old building (and old/cold windows) but we kept having to put the thermo up again, even in the middle of the night. Mansion is walking distance to several eateries. Overall, a lovely stay. We even got chocolate covered strawberries for our Anniversary!! What's not to love?! We'd go back again :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed .... Again

Jan 7th, 2020

My partner and I recently stayed at this hotel for our second time and were disappointed for a second time. I wrote an email to the management expressing my concern back on December 28 and, like the service and product of the property, it is evident that they don’t care as I have not yet heard a response. My below email to the management team pretty much sums up my stay. ‘Dear Madam/Sir, I am writing in regards to a recent stay I had with you and my second time being disappointed. My partner and I planned a last minute trip to Buffalo to meet up with friends over the Holiday Season. We stayed with you before in one of your entry level rooms and were not happy with the accommodation (tired appearance and not clean). Subsequently we stayed at The Hotel Henry (in the top suite) and were also not happy (i.e. an empty cork was found, the bathroom was not properly cleaned and used underwear were found by the bench; I wrote a review on TripAdvisor earlier that year). When we were booking our stay for December 26, we thought we would give The Mansion on Delaware a second chance since we were dining at Tempo, which is very close to your hotel. We booked a suite, this time in hopes that the accommodation would be better. To our disappointment, the suite was just as bad entry level room we had stayed in. Once in the room, we were amazed at how poorly decorated and maintained the product was; stains on the bathroom tiles, the carpet was bubbling in several places, the duvet on the bed was so old it had no feathers left, the sofa in the living room was worn and in need of replacing, the closet doors did not open without using force, there were not a sufficient amount of coat hangers, the shower was weak (more like a mist), the room was hot and a number of scuff marks and scratches on the walls - demonstrating a lack of concern/care from the housekeeping department. I felt as though I was staying in a Howard Johnson’s opposed to the luxury boutique hotel you boast to be on your website. In addition, none of the pictures on your website resembled the accommodation that we received. I spoke with the reception desk and was told that there were no other suites available that evening. I also called them a second time to request a new duvet, since the one that adorned the bed was without feathers. On my return to the room later that evening, it looked as though the duvet had been changed, but it was not made up (it was not tucked in and was left in a sloppy state). However to my surprise, the duvet had not been changed, as the featherless duvet remained on the bed. When I called to ask what happened, the reception employee stated that they had no other duvets, with feathers, available in the hotel. Although the reception employee came to the room to confirm this and offered to show me another room (not a suite), I was not happy with the alternative. After staying at the Mansion on Delaware and the Hotel Henry, I feel the lack of attention to detail, as well as the overall lack of concern exhibited by your staff is quite obvious. You have two properties that are quite unique and interesting but the evident lack of care is your downfall. From my experience, The Curtiss is the place to stay while in Buffalo, as I have been disappointed with your properties too many times. Disappointed and annoyed’ TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Simply the best in Buffalo!

Nov 19th, 2019

As an experienced global business traveler and self proclaimed hospitality connoisseur, I have never had a more genuine and memorable experience as my most recent stay at the Mansion on Delaware Ave in Buffalo NY and it can be attributed to my Butler, and dare I say new friend, Ian. I visited Buffalo last month with a coworker and was impressed with our Butlers Clinton and Ian, so much so that despite not being wildly impressed with the guest rooms themselves, we decided to return to the Mansion. Ian remembered us, and in a dynamic showcase of proficiency he handled all aspects of our stay from booking our reservations to accommodating our requests, recommending a restaurant and even driving us to dinner. It was the late evening conversation over games of pool in the fireside salon that set our experience apart from any other. If you find yourself traveling to Buffalo for business during the cold and snowy winter season, this is the place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place to stay while in Buffalo

Oct 16th, 2019

My wife and I stayed overnight at the Mansion while traveling back to Ontario. Upon checking in we found the staff to be attentive and very friendly. The rooms were quaint, clean and comfortable. The evening cocktail hour, with a game of pool was a nice way to relax after a long day. Later in the evening, we went to Tempo for a late dinner. A great recommendation from the hotel staff, Ian and Hannah. The hotel provided a ride to the hotel, as well as pick up in the company's Land Rover. I must say Hannah was a great tour guide and chauffeur. The next morning a continental breakfast was served with plenty of fresh choices. All in all, I highly recommend the Mansion and look forward to going back when I find myself heading to Buffalo. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

An Elegant and Uncommon Experience in a Historical Hotel

Oct 13th, 2019

I chose this hotel because it was convenient to a wedding I was attending. Parking on arrival was a little confusing, as there is no specific place indicated to park for check-in. I was nearly immediately greeted by one of the "butlers" on staff who brought in my suitcase and arranged for valet parking for my car. I was escorted to my room, allowing for a brief description of the mansion's history and finer points. In my room, I was greeted with a personalized note of welcome, along with two tiny cupcakes and a couple of cookies. The room was not overly large, but it had soaring high ceilings and huge old grand window. The bathroom had a clean and serviceable jetted tub and multiple shower heads. The linens were good, and the bed was comfortable. I note that some reviewers have been disappointed that this not like other contemporary downtown hotels, but for me, the unique experience was well worth the departure from the predictability of an ordinary hotel. Unlike the typical continental English muffin or massed-produced scrambled eggs and bacon, breakfast at the Mansion was a sumptuous buffet that included cold shrimp, charcuterie, cheese, roasted vegetables, fruit, farro, and hard boiled eggs-- as well as a toaster and bagels/bread for the traditionalists. I lingered over a pot of English breakfast tea in the breakfast room, thoroughly enjoying the view and the relaxing start to my day. At check out, my car was retrieved in a matter of minutes and brought to the front door. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
