Cancelled

May 2nd, 2020

Our booking for September was cancelled by the hotel today with no explanation as to why and we are totally unable to contact anyone at the hotel. Our flights at this point are still going ahead and we now do not have a hotel. In my opinion it was very unprofessional to cancel our booking without speaking to us first. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The smallest NYC hotel room I've ever seen

Mar 26th, 2020

This is just a drab chain hotel (Marriott) that's tried to make itself more exciting with a new name and some weird lighting in the lobby. I stayed here for a short business trip, because East Midtown doesn't have a lot of hotel choice. My room was hilariously small. (Room 1028.) The bed barely fit into it. I didn't really care, because I was there alone for one short night. But two people in that room would have been tricky. The drab gray carpeting was tired, though, with some black markings that didn't add any appeal. The place was clean enough. But the window looked out onto an air shaft, which made the whole room seem gray. And what's with the $30 resort fee? Please. I didn't use my bar voucher, so they made out on that one. My room rate came with a free breakfast. But I tipped the overworked waiter $8. So I'm not sure I actually saved any money dining there. I won't be back, unless I'm in need of an overpriced shoebox for one night on the East Side. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Kudos to Rachel

Mar 18th, 2020

I spend a lot of time in hotels so I always appreciate when the hotel staff makes a trip to memorable. Rachel Sims, the Front Desk Manager at the Maxwell is one of those people. Recently when I had an issue regarding a reservation, Rachel immediately resolved the situation with respect, courtesy and good humor that I felt the need to recognize her. It’s people like Rachel that make business travel a pleasure for those of us weary road warriors. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

COVID Cancellation

Mar 16th, 2020

I unfortunately had to cancel a trip to the Maxwell due to recent travel issues. Luckily the staff was easy to deal with and processed everything quickly. Will be staying there in the future when I visit NY. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Could be better

Very nice first looking when you enter in this hotel Once you go check in you feel like this is a business hotel I mean there was no happy welcome at all We had a room on the 4th floor with a good view on the street As we were traveling with 3 kids we needed to go back to the reception to get an extra bed because there was only one sofa for 2 people That was ok once we went back from diner outside Staff in the restaurant are doing their job in a professional way but once again no extra care The place is perfect to visit this city but I need to say I was a bit disappointed about the customer care TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
