Not 5 star

To start with the positives... the roof Terrace is fabulous in that it gets 360degree sun, is very relaxed, loads of space and lovely pool. Shame about the cracked glass with gaffer tape holding it together as you step out of the lifts. Bit disconcerting that these are also roof windows for the atrium below. The area the hotel is in isn’t the greatest but it’s not far into town. The rooms and hotel in general are a tiny bit shabby... would imagine this hotel was top notch when built but things like the hallway carpets need replacing and it feels a little dark. The rooms are good... beds are comfortable. TVs are a bit small but that’s ok. Wish there was a stand alone shower - there is an over bath shower but it’s not great - you have to select the temperature from separate hot and cold taps and the temperature of the the shower kept changing - possibly when someone in the next room tuned the hot tap on etc? A bigger shower head would be an improvement. Also think more cupboard space, robes in the room, iron and board would be a nice 5* touch. The thing I thought let it down the most however was service. The service I must add was absolutely fine but not 5 star standard. There was no real explanation of anything - covid regulations, where to go for what, where I could go to get to the pool, where the pool towels were even. What number to call for reception, covid regulations etc. Had to find things were as we went along. Some explanations were available by scanning a QR code but the hotel wasn’t busy so I think an explanation in person would have been nice. Certainly no extra mile service. We were told off on the way out for not wearing masks in communal areas however there were no signs except in the lifts saying masks needed to be worn - including the big banners. The mini bar has been replaced with something self service in the lobby. Don’t really understand this - Perhaps it’s Greek covid regulations but it’s 5* so brining to the room might have been nicer? The lobby set up looks like what you might find in an IBIS. The breakfast was also poor. Very poor selection, served in a weird place... I thought the selection was very limited, dry pastries and cold hot food. 5* that was not. Overall I’d say this was a solid 4 star... perfectly nice place but not spectacular with three star service and food. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Highest quality of accomodation

Despite an unfortunate issue of arrangement regarding our rooms, the always friendly and professional staff, was immediately award the eight of us with four-not just one-rooms which were at least 3-4 levels up, than the ones we booked. Furthemore, we were never charged for our breakfasts during our stay there, and is sufficient to say that the amenities were top notched. But the most rewarding experience of all is the people who run it.At every position. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Ultimate in relaxation for the business traveller
Mar 1st, 2020
You're on business in Thessaloniki and you're a bit worn out from travelling. Check in and recuperate at The Met - you'll feel much better when you leave than when you arrived. At first glance, it seems to be unlikely located, opposite the container terminal of the port in the middle of a pretty seedy area, as ports often are. But inside is a perfect oasis. As you find your way around you realise you are surrounded by beauty - the furniture and furnishings, the whole aesthetic of the hotel is elegantly modern, a celebration of contemporary interior design. The workmanship of the marble lined bathrooms is truly extraordinary. Rooms are spacious, quiet and create a sensory rest area as does the decor in the whole hotel. Breakfast choices are huge and you can have a different type of breakfast every day as you work your way across the tables. The bar has a delicious selection of Greek wines with complementary cheese and snacks. There are many different areas on the ground floor where you can hold formal or informal meetings with friends or colleagues, nooks and corners where small groups can gather privately. And the hotel's Chan restaurant has an impressive pan-Asian and modern Greek menu for the foodie and the health conscious alike. On the sub-ground level is a really amazing spa with free heated pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Many different types of massage and bodywork are on offer and you can usually book something the same day. The prevailing atmosphere is of a caring, generous and attentive staff. Nothing is too much and everyone appears to be warm and friendly, from the maids to the bar staff and concierge. When you're taken care of like this, it doesn't matter that you're a free five minute shuttle ride from the city centre. It's definitely a grown-ups' hotel though, not really for children. Great stay at the Met Hotel in Thessaloniki!
Feb 25th, 2020
We are a family of four (two adults and two kids 11 and 12 years old) who have just spent four nights at the Met Hotel in Thessaloniki. The hotel is convenient located just outside the city centre, in walking distance or a short hotel-shuttle-bus or taxi drive. The hotel facilities are very nice, clean, spacious and modern, both the inside and the outside eating/bar facilities. The rooms are not the biggest, but are well designed with a balcony. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly, and we always felt welcome. The breakfast buffet is great. We also used the Long Bar several times, for great drinks and light meals. The best was the Chen Restaurant, where we enjoyed the Asian Fusion menu. We have been to several top Asian Fusion restaurants around the world, and the Chen is definitely up there amongst the very best. In summary, a great stay at the Met Hotel, and we can highly recommend it to other holiday travellers. The business/conference facilities also look very good and spacious. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Rather Disappointing Experience
Feb 16th, 2020
If it’s your first time visiting an urban design 5* Hotel, then you may get excited! If you need a decent solution for a business trip, then you’ll probably not get disappointed... However, if you are seeking for an exceptional stay combined with dinner for a special occasion and you have traveled a lot around the world, staying in worldwide pioneer 5* hotels & resorts, then this hotel can be proved a real disaster... Very bad Value for Money Option for low season period. Breakfast at Avenue48 restaurant was rather poor (pies & doughs were cold)... Dinner at Chan Panasian Restaurant was very interesting with inspired cocktails, mythical crispy duck salad and divine scallops... Helpful Staff, but, when you have complained that wine, fruits and pralines (being part of the package), were forgotten to be offered and have mentioned that some other inconveniences were faced during such a short stay and they still charge you for two small bottles of still water from mini bar at the price of 5€, then no excuses can be given for lack of professionalism...
