Very nice hotel in a good location

Our room was really nice, a good size for a family of four. This was in a good location, we had a nice walk around. We stayed her the night before our flight home and it was relaxing. Friendly staff on reception and around the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
No refund no help from Hotels.com

It started out as what was going to be an awesome vacation with friends in Boston to see historic sights and see the Red Sox vs Brewers at Fenway Park. We started planning this trip in early 2020…then Covid hit. We booked our hotel The Midtown Hotel in Boston,MA through hotels.com using our Chase Sapphire Card. Our trip was scheduled for June 4th. We waited until the last minute, two weeks prior, to cancel the trip. In hopes of something, anything , turning around maybe allowing us to take our trip. After cancelling we contacted all three parties involved in our booking in hopes of recovering the $595 that we paid because the Covid crisis essentially kept us from being able to take our trip. We received zero help from any of the companies that we used to book our trip and have been told that there will be no refund of the $595 that we paid for our hotel. I usually take two trips per year. I have about 25 good years of travel left in me. That’s 50 good trips remaining with me and my group of friends. NEEDLESS to say I will NEVER use Hotels.com ( or any affiliates) , The Midtown Hotel in Boston, or Chase Sapphire to book another trip again. There are many other choices out there and I will be sure to use my other choices. Incidentally I had a similar situation occur with my American Express Platinum Delta Sky Miles Card and was refunded without even any solicitation. I was pleasantly surprised. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We found the staff to be very friendly, going out of their way to help. The hotel is central to everything you need. However, the hotel is in need of a complete overhaul. We stayed for 7 nights, it would be ok for a couple of nights but no more. The hotel is very noisy, people banging in the rooms above, doors slamming. The heating is from an air heater and very difficult to get a comfortable warmth and also drying. I think if you are staying longer you need a little more comfort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The place is a little bit worn down, and smells a bit old, but rooms are very spacious. 10-12munutes walking distance from Back Bay station, and very close to a few different subway stations. The surrounding area is not very lively, but has a few neat places (go to Thornton's for breakfast!). Overall we had an okay stay at $107 per night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This was a fantastic stay and we would definitely stay again! We started off our trip on the wrong foot, the airport having lost our luggage and a late evening arrival but as soon as we got into the hotel we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who took all of 2 minutes to put us at ease and put a smile on our faces. He was able to get us checked in promptly and even spent 5 minutes talking to us about our lost luggage and that he would do his best to keep us updated on anything if we were out of the room and the airport got in contact with the hotel. I will say this is definitely not a 5* hotel but I will say one thing, the room that my partner and I were given was bigger and more well planned than those fancy hotels. The room was clean and looked after each day and the bathroom area was adequate. One of the best parts is that it is a 3 minute walk to the prudential building and subway line which made travelling 10x easier. From start to finish we were always greeted with a smile and furthermore, we left with our luggage thanks to the help of the hotel! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend.
