A Great Stay in a Great Location

Feb 22nd, 2020

My husband and I have just returned from a few days at this hotel and we enjoyed our stay so much. Check in was easy and the room was great for what we needed it for, a base in which to stay in NY. We didn't have much of a view (a fire escape) but this did mean that our room stayed dark no matter the time of day. The guest lounge is a nice place to sit and watch the city outside whilst enjoying beverages from the coffee machine. The location is amazing. We were literally minutes from a lot of major attractions including Central Park, Times Square, Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Centre to name but a few. There is also numerous subway stations within easy reach. The only thing to mention (and I did ask at check out) is to see if they can supply bedding that isn't feathered. This wasn't a problem for us but my mum will be planning a trip to NY and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to her. However, she is allergic to feathers and would not be able to stay here if they couldn't offer an alternative. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My stay at the Moderne was uninhabitable. I had to evacuate the first room they placed me in when the heater started making a loud noise, sounding like it was going to be explode. The front desk then relocated me to another room, which had a broken safe, a broken chair, a leaking ceiling, and a worn down headboard. The ceiling in the shower was leaking so badly that I couldn't take a shower. I requested a different room, but none were available. Also, the elevator was out of order. DO NOT STAY HERE. Inexpensive adorable quaint hotel

Feb 13th, 2020

My husband and I stayed at this hotel because we were attending the opera. Initially, we wanted to stay at the Dream right down the street, but this hotel was just as good, just with no club attached which I was ok with. I have to admit the decorations are busy, but the pictures that they have listed on Tripadvisor are accurate. The room is tiny but accommodating and the bathroom is modern and a very decent size, lighting in the bathroom is perfect for doing your make-up! The hotel was very clean, which was my most worry and the staff was very friendly. My only complaints are the room was extremely hot and the amenities they said were free (i.e. Figi water) were not free they charge you a room fee at the end of your stay that includes the price of the Figi water. My thing is if something is not complimentary do not say it is. One last thing is there no complementary breakfast only fruits, tea and coffee. Otherwise, it was a good stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Moderne Rules!

Feb 12th, 2020

I traveled with my lady from Chicago and stayed for 4 nights, the hotel perfect! The location was convenient, Great drinks across the street and found 2 BBQ places nearby! Loved our room, and the service was so on point from the doorman to the room attendants. Made some great memories at the Moderne, this will be our spot from now on. Told our friends and they’re already switching from another hotel. To the team at the Moderne, thank you for everything! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful small, friendly hotel

Feb 12th, 2020

Stayed here for my first visit to New York for my 50th birthday. Chris on reception was so friendly, gave a really friendly welcome and arrived at our room within an hour with two gorgeous chocolate cupcakes for my birthday! Rooms are small but have the facilities needed for a great stay, fridge, fab telly and lovely waterfall shower (toiletries are really lovely!). There is a residents lounge on the second floor which has free hot and cold drinks and various snacks too, this was a really welcome bonus, and open 24hrs a day too. The hotel is in a good location, not too far from Central Park or Broadway with some nice bars and food places nearby. Some of the areas in the hotel were perhaps a little jaded but this didn’t impact at all on our stay and if I were to visit New York again I’d book this hotel in an instant. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
