Corporate Greed

Mar 16th, 2020

We were scheduled to arrive On 3/16 , However our governor, Jared Polis, Ordered all ski resorts shut down and for people to self seclude due to the coronavirus outbreak. We contacted the resort and the Internet website, hotels.com, to cancel our reservation. First we were told we would be getting a refund then we were told we would be getting a credit then we were told the executives would be meeting to decide. Ultimately, we received an email saying that we would be credited the amount of our entire stay and we could use that money for a future stay within the next year. All major hotels are issuing refunds. I cannot imagine the greed by these executives to Make a decision to keep our money for a year In light of this unprecedented pandemic that no one for saw coming and it is beyond our control.Shame on you. Shabby room unhelpful staff

Feb 29th, 2020

We arrived after a long trip from the UK and asked to be upgraded straight away, our first room was tiny, had nowhere to hang coats or ski jackets, nowhere to sit except the bed or the loo, a broken cupboard door, chipped bath and a bed smaller than our bed at home. We moved rooms for 6 of our 7 nights to a suite at a price of 80 dollars plus taxes etc per night. This was a considerable improvement, but still tired in decoration with a phone that didn't work and broken loo paper holder. Breakfast the next morning was very slow and we were quite surprised that they had no English Breakfast tea on offer. We breakfasted in our suite there after. We had to move back to a small room for our last night as the suite was booked unfortunately. The reception staff assured us that our luggage would be moved to our next room whilst we were out skiing. When we got back from skiing our cases were sitting under the dripping eves of the Lodge and it took two requests and a fair while to get them to our room. All in all we loved Telluride but wouldn't return to Mountain Lodge, the service was awful, the rooms too small. The only real joy was Chris the concierge who was wonderfully helpful. Shocking Service and Overpriced

Feb 23rd, 2020

I signed up just to write this review. We stayed over President's Day Weekend and this hotel is extremely sub-standard. The rooms were old, deteriorating and dirty. We found a thick layer of dust on the fabric headboard and even put a post-it note on it to ask the maid to vacuum it which was ignored. The bathroom was small and cold with old messy caulking around the tub and the enamel on tub itself was marked all over. Our room was in a separate building and upon arrival the porter essentially did not want to help us bring our bags over. The hotel is seriously understaffed. Average wait time was 1 hour for breakfast with only 1 waiter on staff for 2/3 days we ate there. The shuttle was helpful, but other than that, the lack of staff and service was abysmal. It was basically DIY as though we were in an condo as opposed to a hotel - we asked for the advertised laundry service and were told to go use the laundry room ourselves. I would be willing to be a bit more flexible if it were a cheaper property, but at $650.00 a night, I expect a lot more. We've stayed at other hotels in top CO ski resorts and been treated like a king for that price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location, small units and unsatisfactory hot tub

Feb 19th, 2020

Not a bad place to stay overall in terms of location - located along Double Cabin run it's a few steps from the condo buildings to the slopes, where you can ski a short way down to lifts #1 or #10. To get to the gondola it's a 4 min walk on a footpath or you can take the hotel shuttle. The base village is a short gondola ride away, and if going to Telluride you transfer to the main gondola at base village - from there you'll ride all the way up the mountain and then down to the town. The accommodation however has flaws. We stayed here for a week in a small two bedroom condo with balcony (some units in same building are larger) on the 3rd floor in the San Sophia building with elevator and small lobby. Unit has high ceilings, as the second bedroom is a loft with no windows other than two wall cutouts above the living room - not much privacy or noise insulation. The master bedroom and bathroom are much nicer than the loft, as the latter has two narrow twin beds and very little space to move around, including the very tiny bathroom - hardly room to turn around without banging on the glass shower doors. Small kitchen space, crowded when more than one using it. In short, this is a unit ok for a family with 1-2 small children but tight for 4 unrelated adults. At least everything in the condo functioned ok - gas fireplace, aircon and good WiFi. Main Lodge has a restaurant on site which is convenient, although there isn't a lot of public space to hang out. There is a pool and hot tub but the "pool" with lukewarm water is no larger than the hot tub which is small and oddly shaped - a narrow triangle and can barely hold 8 comfortably - they should turn the pool into a hot tub too since no one ever uses it. This is probably the most unsatisfactory hot tub I'd ever seen. There is another tiny prefab tub but water is not as hot and jets much weaker. To get to the hot tub it's a hike up the hill in the cold (the bathrobes supplied in room are helpful), or make use of the gym (with all of 3 machines) changing room (locker key will require a $25 deposit). Ski storage - in room, on outdoor racks or in lockers located in each condo building. To get either outdoor rack key or locker key will require a deposit of $25. Indoor lockers seem to be harder to come by - either none are free or the keys are missing. Note also that on checking in the Lodge will preauthorize a hold on your credit card at $75/day. The rating of 3 stars is average of 4 for location, 3 for accommodation, and 2 for hot tub facilities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay

Feb 4th, 2020

Accommodation: MLT is situated 5-10 min walk or 2 min shuttle ride from the very centre of mountain village. It is slope side a green run for very easy ski in / ski out The accommodation is seperate to the central lodge/front desk/restaurant, housed in independent blocks. Rooms: junior suite was convenient. Well appointed kitchen and reasonably sized bed, bathroom and sitting room. Furniture was a bit tired but functional. Plenty of storage and everything worked. Service: front of house, concierge and shuttle operators were exceptional, friendly and helpful. Shuttle was a big plus, always available and gave options on how to get to the village. Restaurant staff were not in the same league but food was good and a nice location. We did have an issue with our room and needed to change. The staff managed this well and resolved the issue fast and considerately. Amenities: pool and hothub were very nice and popular. Christy's ski shop was on the top floor of the lodge and was one of the easiest ski rental processes I've ever gone through. Great skis and efficient service plus you can swap out the skis when in the village at other Christy stores. General: Mountain village has free gondola to Telluride town. The skiing was varied across all levels with well connected lifts. Some of the lifts need updating as they are slow but small price to pay for exceptional range. Summary: MLT was reasonable accommodation with great and convenient service. Location and skiing was exceptional. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
