Gingerbread display

Beautiful and awesome as usual...so accommodating. Brought my 82 year old mother and they provided us with a wheel chair so she could enjoy the gingerbread creations...this is a beautiful place with a lot of extras TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent

Great Stay, the gingerbread house exhibit was amazing. All the holiday decorations were tactfully done. The choice of bars was very nice so you didn't have to crowd into just one. There was plenty of space to relax and enjoy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not Quite as good as last year.

One of the reasons for staying at the Grove Park Inn is they allow dogs to be with you. Last year, we were able to have our pets with us in the lobby to enjoy the crowds and people enjoying your pet. This year, we were told that you could not just sit with your pet, that you had to move on through the lobby. What a shock. Also, we were so looking forward to the grand Thanksgiving Buffet. Unfortunately, all four adults in our party felt that the food was far less quality than last year. Kinda lost desire to continue to make this a yearly event. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

For for the walk in visitors than hotel guest.

We were booked to stay November 29th and 30th, We only stayed one night! When we arrived the lobby was running over with visitors. We went to check in and our room was not ready which was fine.. Walked over to the concierge service to book our dinner plans and to"buy" just a spa pass to enjoy the hot tub the next morning..... You can not buy are enjoy the hot tub or spa pool because they only "sell" passes for that Monday thru Thursday unless you have an appointment. They are booked due to the fact that we did not make 3 months plans ahead of time..when I spoke to the manager of the Spay it was we are full "NO". As for dinner plans well unless we would like 10 pm plans or the buffet they are booked due to the high volume of visitors and again I should have booked 2 months in advance. Room service took 2 hours. The room was in the Historical section and was very nice and clean with very small double beds and not comfy . It was the time during the ginger bread showing and I understand the crowd. However, if you are paying 600. a night for somewhere to stay it would really be nice to have priority for at least eating and a few amenities! I have stayed at a lot of Omni resorts that are considered American Express fine hotels and I can say this is the worst. Maybe, they should turn it into just a historical museum for outside tour and dinning for their beautiful grounds.. I will give a big 5 star praise to the bell hops.. Jarvis was one the the nicest most helpful gentleman I have ever met. The morning bellhop, "I did not get his name" did go out of his way to get me coffee at 6 am with a great big smile.. Interesting history, but I would not call this a luxury resort - just the price was luxury!

This hotel was like stepping back in time, and that made the stay fun. However, the room (for the price) was barely passable. The food was well-presented and delicious, but pricey. Wine was VERY pricey. At the tennis club, we were not told what else was available there nor the options for playing, renting equipment, etc. The elevator in the old lodge was very small (and old!) but the only option was to take the stairs (we were on the 4th floor) or be transferred to the "modern" wing with bigger elevators. I got my exercise. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
