Please read before making a reservation

Jun 17th, 2019

I emailed the manager 2 days ago and have still not received a response for our horrible experience: Good Morning Cynthia, I am a guest at the hotel crescent, staying here 3 nights. Since our arrival Friday, we have had nothing but issues. First, you were unable to find our reservation, but you kindly assisted and quickly resolved that issue; however, the first room we were staying, Room 805, did not have air conditioning. We thought maybe it had just turned on, so we gave it the benefit of a doubt, but a couple of hours later, especially after showering, the room was still warm and also humid and stuffy. So before going out, we let you and the other front desk agent know and left. When we came back to the hotel, nobody was at the front desk at that moment, so we went up to the room and there was a very loud floor fan as the resolution to the room not having AC. That is unacceptable. It was late so we attempted to sleep, but the room was stuffy and that fan was very loud. We went to the front desk in the morning and let the agent know what happened and she was surprised that we were not offered to move to another room. We were moved to Room 202, which this room had some kind of orange and black thing on the ceiling right above the bed. It looked like something had been leaking from possibly the room above and it looked like mold that was poorly covered up by whatever the orange plaster was. We called the front desk who sent maintenance up to check it out. The maintenance man confirmed that it was a leak from the room above and we told him we were concerned because it's right above the bed and we did not want whatever that was to leak on us. He left and the front desk called us again and said the maintenance man said nothing was wrong and it wasn't mold while he confirmed to us it was a leak. We no longer wanted to stay here and we called the third party Hotel Tonight to see if we can cancel the reservation and get our money back to stay elsewhere because this is my birthday weekend and we spent the majority of yesterday back and forth trying to find a safe and decent room to stay here in this hotel. The front desk agent said we had to wait for a manager because she had no authority to approve the cancellation, so we waited almost 2 hours, mind you we had dinner reservations and could not get ready because we didn't know if we were going to stay at this hotel or move to yet another room. Finally at 4:30, the manager called and said she doesn't have the authority to cancel and refund our reservation and offered to move us to yet another room. We immediately went downstairs to talk to her and she was nice and sympathetic unlike the other front desk agent and offered us the presidential suite, Room 807. Attached, please find all the pictures of what we have had to endure the last 2 days, including this last room, where my friend SLIPPED in the bathroom because the bathroom FLOODS because the door does not prevent water from seeping out of the tub. I have more if you need to see. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a supposed 4 star hotel. I think the service has been unacceptable and the rooms are unsafe and not up to par. I am very upset and the stay here has made this trip very stressful. Please, all I am asking for is for you as a hotel and customer service manager, make this up to me and please cancel and return my money so I can stay elsewhere and enjoy the last day of my birthday trip. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. This hotel should not be open during renovation, they should not be advertising as a 4-star hotel, as it is unsafe for guests. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not at all what is advertised on their website

Jun 14th, 2019

We stayed 2 nights in June 2019. We booked it at the last minute and didn't read reviews ahead of time. If we had, we wouldn't have stayed here. Cons: the in room safe didn't work even after the maintenance guy "fixed" it. You can't control the air conditioner, it's preset. The refrigerator is just a cooler and doesn't chill very well. No restaurant/lounge/bar as advertised. We couldn't get on the internet. Pros: The towels and toiletries were good, the room was very quiet, the bed very comfortable and the staff was pleasant. Good location. There's a nice little restaurant across the street "The Commerce" where you can get breakfast and their staff is more than accommodating. I understand the hotel has been sold and is being updated, but I would not recommend staying here until the renovation is completed. We thought the room was a little pricey considering the lack of amenities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Birthday celebration

Jun 13th, 2019

The staff of The Royal Crescent were very nice and knowledgeable about everything in the area. Hotel is in walking distance to Bourbon Street which was fantastic. Make sure you get your bearings in regards to the location because after a few “Hand Grenades” we ended up walking in a circle and got lost! Lol we eventually made it back and were greeted by the staff at the front desk with a very friendly “Welcome Back” I would definitely stay here again... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Several Positives

Jun 9th, 2019

I stayed at the Royal Crescent Hotel for five days for business. When you book for three or more days, you receive a 20% discount. My average rate was around $100 per night. The hotel is about a ten minute walk to the French Quarter. The staff is very nice and accommodating. My assistant booked me the Omni Suite. My suite was on the top floor and was the corner unit. This place was so big that it had a full bathroom in the bedroom area and a half bathroom off of the living room. The ceilings were at least twelve feet high. The king size bed was so comfortable. The hotel does not have a restaurant and is dated. The location, price and the nice staff make up for this. I like this hotel so much I have reservations to stay the next time I’m in town. $40 for Parking, Otherwise Good

May 27th, 2019

Cons: The only available parking is paid open parking that is not secure or valet for $40. Check in is listed as 4pm, but they weren't ready until 5:30pm. Pros: The location is awesome. It is right on the edge of the French Quarter. The staff is incredibly friendly. The room was clean. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
