AFTERNOON TEA at THE LIVING ROOM
Oct 5th, 2020
I have been to afternoon tea several times but this is my first time at this location. As the first person to arrive for afternoon tea service, I was mostly ignored. The hostess, who came after me, serviced a more vocal patron and then went to the biggest party afterwards. In fact, as she started seating people, I heard her say to someone else, because you were the first person here, I will seat you first. I took offense, as that statement was not true. I was seated in a very sunny spot, and had very little shade. No one acknowledged this until the manager came to ask me if I would like a little more shade. The poor guy had to move the umbrella all by himself; for which I was very grateful. In terms of the service, very little was explained to us. We felt like we were the least important people in the room, as we were the last to receive service. We had ordered several drinks, and I found that I was lacking in the water that I had ordered because of the sunny spot that I was seated. The tray was divine looking but I found that there was substantially less food than at the other places that I had visited. In fact, there was only one small portion of each item on the three layers. It didn't give me a chance to enjoy it, especially since I was sharing. At other locations, they give you substantially more food for a substantially lower price. The tea that I chose was the Peninsula Mango tea but it tasted more like a raspberry. No sugar was provided, so, it was quite tart. I also found that place settings were not readily available and we had to wait until after the first course was served which was the desiccated peaches with a mint ice cream. We watched it melt. Eventually, other tables were served with water and also place settings. I had to ask for these things and sometimes I didn't get it. Although, the experience was unique for Los Angeles, I felt that they could have done much better. Service 1/10 Food 5/10 Value 3/10 Overall 5/10 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

From checking in to checking out flawless service. The attention to details is remarkable. I can’t say enough about this hotel and its staff. Each one of them cares and is showing it constantly at every interaction. Luxurious at its best. The rooms are beautiful, spotless and comfortable. The food is great, restaurants and room service. I will never go to any other hotel in LA. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Top of the Top

Best hotel stay ever and we've been fortunate to travel widely as a family. Incredible safety coronavirus protocols (including temperature checks and permitting us to self-park right in the forecourt), terrific attention to detail (personalized greetings for everyone in our family, thoughtful extras to help us celebrate a milestone birthday, a free book for our fourth grader when the hostess saw his interest in it) and impeccable surroundings (we stayed in a villa king with patio, which was incredibly spacious and private). Overall the service was just unmatched (from making the reservation to any request you might have--no onion rings on the pool menu? That's okay, we've made some for you, and they're the best you've ever had). Although the hotel is not cheap, the "Beverly Hills Dreaming" package was a relative bargain, including substantial food and parking credits, which were nice, and the location was great for window shopping in Beverly Hills and taking a walk in the Flats of BH. Friendly other guests as well, including many families around the pool--it felt like being on a luxury cruise together. Get up early for more choice around the pool (or rent a cabana, which seemed like overkill to us but made for excellent people watching) but don't be put off by reviews that say you can't get a spot. They'll find a way to make you comfortable. Thanks to the entire team at the hotel, we will be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Perfect Little Sanctuary

Simply superb: convenient location to the westside of LA, relatively small, quiet refinement, and great service. Our room, though relatively modest in size, got all the details right, was immaculate, and felt like a sanctuary of relaxation. The rooftop plunge pool and surrounding lounge area was fairly small but is adequate for some outdoor downtime. There is no need to look further for a hotel located on the westside of LA--this will be your perfect place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
You Will Feel 100% Pampered

With soft traditional ambience and the warmest welcome ever, this exquisite hotel feels like a warm, elegant hug. Every staff member— from housekeeping to servers to valet, bellmen, hosts, managers— is considerate, friendly, attentive, and kind... We have so enjoyed the Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong and Manila, and this Peninsula measures up for sure when it comes to management and training. Despite the trying conditions of pandemic, the quality of service, food, and accommodation is absolutely beyond first rate. We met several locals who visit the Belvedere and Rooftop restaurants regularly— and the 8 PM toast at the Belvedere, (Whose warmhearted idea was this?!) really made guests feel a sense of community during a time when a virus threatens to dehumanize human interaction. Kudos to all involved and big thanks to Zack, Anne, Jim, Reggie, Emily... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
