Beautiful hotel and great service, but environmentally clueless

Jun 12th, 2019

I stayed one night at the Post Oak Hotel (June 4-5, 2019), and while I thought the hotel and individual rooms were beautiful and the toiletries, other amenities, and staff quite good, I was supremely disappointed by the entire hotel's lack of ANY recycling (confirmed by two different Post Oak Hotel employees I asked). This seems shockingly out-of-step with every other hotel I have used, both in the US and abroad in the last several YEARS that does recycle, not to mention environmentally irresponsible (notwithstanding the size of Houston and the perceived seemingly endless supply of landfills in Texas). Not only did the Post Oak Hotel not separate trash from recycling in the individual rooms or fitness center (offering only small disposable water bottles without even the option of a filtered water dispenser to fill your own reusable bottle), it did not advertise the option for guests to reuse their towels and bed linens for more than one night. I found this lack of environmental awareness to be extremely wasteful and disappointing, especially for a hotel trying to pride itself as one of Houston's finest. I would actually stay at a different hotel during my next visit to Houston if the Post Oak does not start recycling. I have previously stayed at the Four Seasons and the St. Regis, all of whom I recall recycled, so I hope the Post Oak soon follows suit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful, but environmentally insensitive hotel

Jun 12th, 2019

I stayed one night at the Post Oak Hotel June 4-5, 2019, and while I was quite amazed by the beauty of the hotel the quality of the room materials, toiletries, and other amenities, and the professionalism of the staff, I was supremely disappointed by the entire hotel's lack of ANY recycling, which two separate Post Oak Hotel employees confirmed. This seems supremely out-of-step with every other hotel I have encountered as well as environmentally irresponsible, notwithstanding the size of Houston and the perceived seemingly endless supply of landfills in Texas. Don't Waste Your Time or Money! Worst Service EVER!!

Jun 7th, 2019

Where do I begin......this hotel advertises itself as a 5 diamond hotel, but the level of service is abysmal. When I arrived late in the evening the front desk staff was no where to be found so I had to search for them in the bar/restaurant to start my check in process. When I got to my room and checked the mini bar I found empty bottle of wine that had not been removed/restocked so I called the front desk immediately and yet they still tried to charge me upon check out. I stayed for 6 nights and 4 of those without a desk lamp as it took 3 days to get engineer to fix. When I took a shower the first morning I was ankle deep in water because the drain was clogged and it took 2 days to resolve. The carpet tacks that stick out where it meets the marble entryway stuck my feet every time I had to go to the bathroom which was reported and never fixed. This hotel looks beautiful on the outside, but don't be fooled, the quality is lacking and the service was even worse. For the price, the Hyatt or the Hotel ZaZa are much better choices. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again and suggest you don't either. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary weekend

Jun 3rd, 2019

This was an unseen booking based upon web search. Fantastic surprise, for sure. This has the feel of some Shangri-La locations in Asia, though more pricey in the Houston location. Walking distance to many excellent dining options, beautiful pool enclave, breakfast/brunch competitive with many notable places, and top notch spacious rooms with fantastic vistas, great baths, and awesome features. There is a spa, though we typically don’t utilize those. If the prices come down even 15-20%, I probably would use this as a Houston regular stay. Beautiful place to hang out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
