lacking in the the resort experience

May 2nd, 2020

We booked this hotel through points having had a great experience at a different Hilton Curio hotel. We were disappointed in the "resort view" as a direct view overlooking the parking lot one floor below, but we didn't let it detract from us enjoying our visit. We were in town to visit Dry Tortugas, and for some water activities, so the property is in a good location to uber/lyft to marinas and to walk to some phenomenal restaurants. What was surprising to us, is for a facility to allow the loudness of the wedding music that went on until 11pm on a Saturday night. The reception was outside, amplifying all of the great known wedding playlists we can all sing to, but don't want intruding our sleep. We ate breakfast on the patio for three morning, and enjoyed the water view. Food was above average, staff was friendly, but do beware of the aggressive seagulls. There was a water spray bottle passed from tables to fend off the seagulls, and we had a sausage link swiped from the plate by a stealth seagull. This hotel provided us a clean place to stay, but I would not return if I was for the resort experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great long weekend

Mar 22nd, 2020

My wife and I had never been to Key West. We spent 3 nights at the Reach in mate Feb and highly recommend it. We appreciated the service, cleanliness and design of the hotel common areas and the rooms. It was perfectly situated for us only 1 mile walk from peak of Duval allowing us to reside in the quieter end of the Key. The Duval Loop free bus was a 5 min walk from the hotel allowing us to get where we wanted to quickly if we had reservation. Top quality property with a very nice breakfast including a credit for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members. Beach service was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Nice Place--Not Great

Mar 17th, 2020

Agreed, this resort is not worthy of the Hilton Curio Collection. Our room 544 was a beautifully remodeled suite with a nice view of the ocean, but the staff definitely has some kinks to iron out. The remodeled areas are very nice and it is a super clean property. It's nice that the showers offer shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel rather than the little bottles. Pros: -The beach is well maintained and the towel guys really hussle to get your chair etc. -Staff is friendly and helpful. -Location to other bars and restaurants off Duval is good. - Conch fritters and fish taco's were good. -Although drinks every where on KW island are pricey, they are well made and not watered down. Cons-- -The elevator to the east wing broke down and it took 1-1/2 days to fix. -The super agressive Sea Gulls that attack your plate of food, and not much being done to rectify that, at both properties. -Inconsistent food. I had eggs benedict with hard poached eggs, not so good, but egg on avocado toast was perfectly poached. -Adult pool at WA is packed, so unless you get there early--no chair for you. Dreadful and overpriced food

Mar 16th, 2020

The restaurant has a great view of the ocean, but our dining experience was spoiled by inexcusably bad food. My steak was tough, overcooked, and dried out. The sauce was A-1 steak sauce, hardly gourmet! My wife became ill from her undercooked fish. I tried to call the head of food service, but my call was never returned. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great 5-night Stay

Mar 13th, 2020

We just had a great 5-night stay at The Reach. Our standard king room was great - fresh, clean and included a partial ocean view. The staff was friendly and courteous in all aspects. Pool was nice, beach is great. Access to the nearby sister property Casa Marina provided an excellent adults-only pool with full bar and snack service. Daily breakfast at The Four Marlins restaurant was great, along with its 5-6pm daily happy hour with half price drinks. The location is great with direct beach access, short walk to Duval Street and nearby restaurants, valet parking, complementary shuttle to/from Casa Marina, on-site restaurant, an “Escape Room” and various game activities in the courtyard. A small resort with a big welcoming personality... this was exactly what we were looking for in our Key West vacation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
