Wasserhaus & Schlitterstein Loft Off Season Review

Feb 19th, 2020

Decided to take a quick getaway and to check out the lodgings for our return in the summer. We booked the Wasserhaus run of the house rooms and when we arrived, we decided we wanted to upgrade to the Schlitterstein Lofts. Josie the manager took care of us and made sure our experience was a positive one. We visited the Boogie Bay pool which was heated and no one was there so the kids had the run of that pool. Wasserhaus - it will work for a small family. no frills room, great if all you need is a place to sleep and shower after a long day at the park. no separate bedroom, just 2 beds in a single room with a partition wall for the sink and door for the bathroom. PROS - right across the street from the park, pizza restaurant onsite, affordable, can access the Comal river from the property CONS - very basic motel room, does have mini fridge, microwave and 2 burner stove w/ dishes and pots/pans Schlitterstein Lofts - Total luxury living. Very modern kitchen with granite countertops, top of the line stainless appliances, washer/dryer, balcony overseeing the Comal river. 2 separate rooms with 2 bathrooms, master has jetted bathtub and walk in closet. TVs in every room. Large dining room table with couch with 2 pull out twin beds. Beautiful high end living quarters. Easy access to the Comal river as well. We spotted deer a few times. PROS - everything was high end and designed for comfort and luxury. It is a luxury 2 bedroom apartment. CONS - if you choose to park underneath the unit, it can be tricky with the pileons. There is bridge construction going on that you can hear at night. Not the fault of the resort, hopefully it will be completed soon. Not close to the water park, you'll have to drive to access the park from what I could tell. I would recommend checking out the amenities in the off season, you can explore New Braunfels. Everything was within 10 minutes of the park. Thanks for taking care of us Josie. We'll be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Schlitterstein Loft

Dec 16th, 2019

We were lucky to obtain a reservation at the Resort at Schlitterbahn over the weekend of the German Christmas Market. What we didn’t realize at the time was that we were booked at the Schlitterstein Lofts, across the river from the main Schlitterbahn campus. What we thought was a curse, was actually a blessing! We drove over to the German Market and spent a few hours enjoying the shopping and music, then when our room was ready, we went across the river, parked the car, and were able to walk to plenty of restaurants and shopping. Not for the faint, 4-5 blocks, but the weather was pleasant and we didn’t mind the exercise. The best part of the S. Lofts are the location. You are right on the river with a lovey large balcony with a great view. You can even see deer come right up to the property. I wish the dining room & living room furniture were a bit more comfortable, but we were only there for one night so it wasn’t too big of a deal. I would definitely stay here again as it was fully gated, quiet, with a great view. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best for Kids in summer; NOT for Adults/business

Dec 13th, 2019

First, if I were here in summer with 4 kids splashing around all day perhaps this would be a 5-star fun campy experience. So I am likely not their demographic. But I needed one night at a hotel when I was in town on business and this place was a dump. Very poorly maintained, fluorescent tube lights for lighting in the bedroom, wall paper peeling off, bathroom door disintegrating. There is not even a phone in the room to call the front desk! Anyway, as soon as I saw the room I almost re-packed the car and went for a refund but I was too tired from an all day plane flight to deal with it so I stayed. The good points is that the staff are exceptionally nice and the room was clean even though very run down. I just can't believe they call it a "resort" and I can't believe I was charged a "resort fee." In any event, use your hundred bucks to stay at normal hotel if you are an adult on business and save this place for people with kids who want to go camping in the summer where they can trash the place and not feel bad TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Inn at Sclitterbahn

Dec 10th, 2019

Highly disappointed. Two of the three of us were scalded when the water in the shower went from set temp to hot on it's own;commode ran nonstop until we undid the chain; termite damage to the wall boards in bathroom; carpet shredded in bathroom; walls chipped and damaged in all rooms; resort amenities closed yet we were charged a resort fee during off season; also did not receive the rate posted but 10.00 per night more. The pictures on the website were totally misrepresentative of the rooms. They do have remodeled rooms that were nice but the room/suite we were in was not just in need of remodeling but in need of repair. Shabby, tired and sooo....outdated. I asked to be moved but was told they were fully booked. Did not appear so. The breakfast was a fast food, packaged joke. They did have a bowl of oranges, bananas and apples along with juice. Quick overnight stay

Dec 10th, 2019

Stayed here for one night to go to the Christmas market. The check in process was way too long...granted we got there at 11:30 at night..Getting there was terrible due to road construction and road closures for the market. The room was very dated and in need of updating. There were cracks in the ceiling. It was nice that it had a full kitchen, not that we needed it for the one night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
