Somethings nice, somethings not

Nice grounds, well-appointed lobby and dining/bar area with big quiet room. However, room was a bit dirty - mold in the bathroom, spiderwebs right when you walk in, previous guests’ dirty clothes left on the floor. What was most bothersome was that a resort fee was tacked on AFTER we checked in. The fee was not included in our reservation, or on the form signed on check in. And when I called after receiving the email with the final bill with extra charges the front desk staff told me I”d have to try calling back in three days to talk to someone who might be able to help. The resort is very dated and is in desperate need of updating. The rooms were clean, but the bed sagged in the middle. It was like sleeping in a bowl. The heater went from blowing hot air to blowing cool air, so I was either roasting or freezing. In the bathroom, the sink takes up almost all of the countertop, so there's barely any room to put out your toiletries. There's not enough light by the closet, so you have to use the light on your phone to find anything in your suitcase. And last but not least - there is no elevator. I had to drag my suitcase up the cement stairs, and then pray I didn't fall down the stairs when I had to drag them back down again. Definitely not a 5-star mountain resort. The only superb thing was the restaurant. The food at Altitude Restaurant is amazing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Not the 4 star deal you expect.

This may be a good 3 star hotel, but not 4, outdated rooms and overpriced. Limited food selection and out of some items, on a middle of the week day. Had to wait for service everywhere. Heater so loud I could not sleep. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Long ago enjoyable resort that has lost its luster

We have been long time guests at the resort and have seen it change over the years. Quite frankly it was a better facility before it came under the flag of Best Western. Having stayed at many Best Western Facilities, the staff here now is far inferior to past years. This year's visit was a return from a horrid experience last year to give the resort a chance to show it had fixed the problems. If anything, this year was marginally better in some areas but significantly worse in others. We reserved a king fire side room for two nights. When we got there there was one fire log for a two-night stay with a note that any additional logs would be $5. One log for a two-night stay? There were no robes in the room, the safe was locked and there was no hair dryer. When we asked on check out about the robes we were told they were on request only, yet there was no where in the room telling you that. When we checked in, we were given a map and a handout that showed the restaurant hours (for both restaurants) and their happy hours. We had decided to go to the later happy hour at Mallards. When we got there and asked about the happy hour, the manager advised they had not had a happy hour in a week and a half. New Flyer? We have also used the resort spa for years and when we made our spa appointments we found that this year they have instituted a 20% gratuity on all services. With as much traveling as we do, that is the highest gratuity I have ever seen. We when checked out and detailed our disappointment with the services and amenities, the male at the desk, who was supposedly the front desk manager, simply said "I'm sorry.". Nothing else. We sent an email to the person we had contacted last year and the current sales manager responded so we gave a detailed outline of what happened. We have received no response. Save your money. Dependable older resort, in good shape!

I've stayed here many times. Older resort but rooms very clean, comfortable, and efficient. Lovely grounds. Great front desk service, always hospitable. I like the outdoor hot tub. No room service (at least in the winter, which I think is their off season) but the hotel restaurant handles to-go orders nicely. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
