Great Hotel! Wonderful Experience!!

Jun 9th, 2019

Love, Love, Love The Restoration! From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we couldn't stop saying how much we loved this hotel! Rooms are clean and beautiful! Location is perfect! They have a great Rooftop Bar! A lovely basket is delivered to your door each morning with breakfast goodies! Warm chocolate chip cookies, wine and cheese waiting for you in the Library each night. The Staff is extremely kind and helpful. All these small touches make a wonderful experience! Charleston is a great place to visit, but The Restoration made our trip ever better! best boutique hotel in Charleston!

Love this place! Definitely my favorite hotel downtown. GREAT location, awesome large loft like rooms with full kitchens. Exposed brick, great decor. RISE coffee shop is amazing and definitely try Basic Kitchen across the street! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Maybe,if you are young

We arrived early for our check in & were told that it would be “awhile”. Three hours later we checked in. The hotel has a 4:00 check in, which I think is ridiculous We had to request a luggage rack as there was not one in the room. For older guests, a rack is important as you do not need to bend down. And, if one is not there, the bellman should get one without the guest asking. Breakfast is a joke. A cute basket delivered with one little jar of bottled jelly and a “croissant” that looks like it came out of a frozen food bag. Why bother at all? Cute idea poorly done. The bathroom is very nice but was missing a shower cap A small thing but when you are naked and want to shower, a major issue. This could be a very nice hotel but someone needs to see about details as that is what boutique hotels are about. Disappointing The bar & restaurant are very nice and service was excellent. We had lunch and dinner and enjoyed both. The hotel is attractive and comfortable but misses the little touches that make a truly good boutique hotel. Too bad. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not sure what the fuss was all about

Jun 1st, 2019

My spouse and I checked in here for our honeymoon, and boy were we disappointed at the quality level of this hotel. We read so many wonderful reviews, both on websites and in travel magazines. The only good part was the rooftop bar, which has good food and amazing cocktails. Below is a list of why you should not stay here: 1. I stripped the sheets off the bed before leaving, and discovered the fitted sheet we slept on was literally fitted to the mattress - it completely covered the top and bottom and was zipped around the mattress itself. I have a feeling these are not changed after every stay. 2. We called ahead and informed the front desk that this was a honeymoon stay. We were told the hotel would indeed do something special for our occasion. Upon arriving we had nothing in our room but a view of the brick wall from the parking garage next door. Thanks a lot hotel staff. 3. We had a broken toilet paper holder in a bathroom. 4. Open soda in the fridge. 5. The grout in the shower was filthy. 6. The foyer to this hotel was so bland. Go stay at The Vendue instead if you want to be impressed. 7. The tv options were extremely limited. No real cable channels, and nothing worth watching. The tv needs to be ushered into the 21st century. Oh and we didn't even have remotes for both tvs. 8. When we arrived we were both lugging suitcases and bags. No one was at the front door to help us enter, and we were struggling. Also, no ramp leading up to the elevator, so we had to drag our things up the few stairs leading to the elevator (which was the slowest elevator I had ever encountered). Not sure what handicapped people do here. Maybe there was another entrance no one cared to share with us. 9. There was dust everywhere in our room. All the doors were filthy, as were the shelves in the bathroom. 10. There was a cracked light outlet cover. 11. The kitchen trash can was filthy. 12. The microwave and kitchen cabinets needed work, and I'm not sure when the bathroom mirrors had last been cleaned. At a much cheaper hotel I would not have cared about some of these things, but we paid top dollar for this place so my expectations were higher. Oh, and you can't access any floors from the stairwell! The staff keycards work, but the people staying don't have that luxury. The elevators were so excruciatingly slow I wanted to walk up the two flights to my room but was unable to do so. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This is the coolest spot! Beautiful rooms, awesome views, great food & super kind staff! You can walk to tons of hot spots even though you won't want to leave the hotel once you arrive! The property is spotless & the bed was super comfy & the suite was welcoming & had everything you could need. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
