Overview

Upscale resort with amenities like a spa, a casino and a kids club
Some former visitors were less than impressed with the property's cuisine

Situated on the beach on Aruba's northwestern coast, this Ritz-Carlton outpost, opened in 2013, lives up to its brand's service, amenities and expectations, according to reviewers. Each stay starts with a complimentary welcome drink at check-in and extends to the spacious rooms, all of which feature marble bathrooms with separate showers and large soaking tubs, 46-inch LCD TVs and furnished balconies. Recent visitors described the staff at the front desk and the five on-site restaurants as exceptional. However, the property's cuisine receives mixed feedback. While some previous travelers enjoyed their dishes, others said their meals were average and expensive. When it's time to explore the hotel's offerings, adults can test their luck at slots or table games at the casino or head to the 15,000-square-foot spa to indulge in a unique treatment like a hammock massage or a Caribbean coconut salt scrub. This hotel isn't just for grown-ups, though. The Ritz Kids club entertains children ages 4 to 12 with activities like arts and crafts and board games. Plus, visitors of all ages can enjoy the hotel's two pools and beach, where water sports equipment like paddleboards, kayaks and snorkeling gear are available. And thanks to its Marriott ties, The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba participates in the Marriott Bonvoy program, allowing members to accrue or redeem points here.

It's also a perfect place to bring the kids: The sea remains calm and shallow for about a half mile out, so conditions are always right for kayaking and paddleboarding. There's a huge children's pool (couples and singles can head to the adults-only one) and a slew of activities at the kids' club, from arts and crafts to movie nights.

Two pools, a 13-treatment-room spa (don't miss the weightless Zoya hammock massage), and a flashy casino are some of the property's highlights. All of the 320 rooms have private balconies, and bathrooms are equipped with Asprey amenities.
