Horrific service and F&B

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton beijing on New Year’s Eve. Being a long time Marriot Bonvoy Elite member I expected to be accorded with the service level expected at all other 5 star hotels around the world. I was horrified at the poor service at the front desk. They had a “couldn’t care less” attitude both at check in and at check out. Did not bother to crack a smile and appeared as if they couldn’t wait to get rid of me. Room was so so.. tho the bed was comfortable as what you would expect from the Ritz standard. Room was somewhat clean. Nothing to really rave / fault. We booked the Club level room which included breakfast (appalling), lunch, tea and dinner. New Year’s Eve dinner buffet was served at the main dining room. Every dish was mediocre, quality was poor and taste was nothing to rave about. If you are just needing to fill your tummy then I would probably recommend the cocktail prawns cos everything else was really bad! Ice cream was self serve and rather unhygienic given guests were just using their own spoons to scoop the ice cream and no one stopped them. (Esp during covid). I inquired with the chef what type of cake he was serving and he was none the wiser. He just said “it’s cake”... this blasé attitude seems to run through the whole hotel. Lunch and breakfast are just as bad. Hot Tea was served cold, selection was very limited and i literally spat out my bacon at breakfast cos it was hard and inedible! Really amazed how the F&B team can get away with serving such mediocre bad tasting food at a Ritz Carlton! If I had to pay for a buffet meal I would demand my money back. I went for a swim at the indoor pool and got shouted at by the lifeguard for not wearing a swim cap. He could have told me nicely rather than shouting at me across the pool making me feel like a criminal. The only saving grace for this hotel is the amazing excellent service of Katherine at the Club Lounge. She was so patient with my questions, always smiling and making me feel at home. She prepared me a wonderful afternoon tea set with hot tea and invited me for drinks after dinner at the lounge. She alone made my stay tolerable and memorable. Mackey Huang at Ritz Carlton Beijing

Great to be back in beautiful Beijing after almost a year out due to the pandemic. Good to see my favourite Ritz Carlton Beijing still busy and still in style preparing for Christmas. Mackey Huang gave me a warm welcome, called me by my name the moment she saw me. They still hold high standards of personalization at the Ritz. Thank you for brilliant service Mackey! The Home Away from Home

Whenever I travel I make it a point to stay at Ritz-Carlton because of the legacy of achieving the utmost heights of hospitality. Staff: If there's one single role model of exquisite service among all the fine hotels, Ritz calls for it. The staff was elegant and attentive while remaining human. The Ritz Beijing's Team is doing an impeccable job that makes their ladies and gentlemen slogan splendid. A special Thank You to Amy who offered a ~20 mins private tour around the hotel lobby, revealing the stories and spirits behind all those spectacular designs. Her passion and effort toward achieving uncompromised guest satisfaction truly delivered a deep impression. Design: Absolutely stunning interior design with a strong connection and sense of place. After staying in many Ritz Carltons around the world, this property truly brings me back to those Ritzs in Washington DC when I was still in college, as it exuded everything I imagined about American design fused with Beijing culture, with clean lines, open spaces and glass exposure. Suites: I stayed in cozy Carlton suite. I was inspired by the huge bathroom, comfortable beds, and beautiful design elements like traditional tea station and bookshelf. You might find yourself looking for excuses to stay inside. Among all those Marriott Properties around Beijing, although Ritz is not the fanciest place, it will be my first choice next time I'm back, and I solely recommend it to all those with a good taste TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Unforgettable Experience - Excellence!

During my family’s staycation in Beijing’s Ritz Carlton Club Level, the level of service my husband and I experienced was simply one of the bests in our hotel experiences. The club’s agent Avery Wang with her team Niki and Alan delivered an unforgettable experience for my children. Not only was she sensitive to our family’s needs by making sure we were taken care of but she went out of her way to make sure all the details were covered. She smiled and was truly an exemplary ambassador for the Ritz Carlton. Through our conversation, she found out my little one was turning one and helped arranged a surprise mini celebration. That truly touched my heart. We had spent baby’s first Christmas at the Ritz last December so it just seemed memorable to have his birthday here too! The hotel has become more than just a hotel to us. The room was clean, tidy and well stocked. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom and amenities were truly top notch. I truly recommend this stay for couples, families and even single travelers. The level of hospitality was memorable and we felt welcomed and could truly unwind and relax. As we are unable to travel too far at the moment, knowing we could go anytime to experience such a great stay was priceless. The club lounge was comfortable, well equipped and had all we needed to be comfortable without leaving the hotel. The team was always masked to ensure the safest of environments in light of the pandemic. Thank you to the team and to Avery for her leadership. I am looking forward to spending more time here whether to mark important milestones or just for a night out. We have already booked our next stay because of her. As a Marriot Bonvoy member, this memory truly made me a fan and solidified our brand loyalty. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautifu, but a bit dated

It was well appointed, comfortable, and we received impeccable service. It felt older and a bit dated, but we enjoyed our stay here. Step out of the hotel to a fabulous shopping center with great stores and dining. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
