DO NOT STAY DURING COVID!

Jul 5th, 2020

Terrible food. Awful depressing room that smelt of smoke. So overpriced I felt taken advantage of. We couldn’t wait to leave. (We considered not staying and driving over night). I’m sure it’s completely different with no Covid but this hotel should not be open for hotel guests until Covid is over. $900 for no service whatsoever is unacceptable.... My family wanted somewhere special to break up our drive from Sonoma County back to L.A. on Father’s Day so we booked a night here. It was expensive, around $900 but it was a Father’s Day gift. We were excited. What a bad decision! We got there early, around 2.30pm. They said our room would be ready soon. They didn’t offer us anywhere to go to wait. when pushed they said the outdoor dining was open or the restaurant. Nothing else was open. The place was PACKED. We (husband, me and our 7 year old) opted for outdoor dining, it was full and had a 90 min waitlist. The area saved for hotel guests was also full. The inside restaurant was depressing and also full. We got our room at around 4.30pm. It was grey and drab, positioned above the main entrance and valet (courtyard view!) and the smoking area. So we could all smell cigarette smoke. There was no room service so we ordered from the restaurant, We ordered simply fearing the worse, the food was unforgivably bad, my daughter and I couldn’t eat our burgers. There was no mini bar in the room so no snacks, and only 2 bottles of water for the 3 of us. As far as we could see there was no store anywhere within the hotel to get snacks and nothing within walking distance. I decided to make the sofa bed for my daughter myself but there was no extra bed linen, so had to call housekeeping, we waited 2 hours for the bed to be made for our daughter. By which time she was asleep in the king, so my husband slept in the sofa bed, they made the bed with one very thin blanket so he spend the night freezing and very uncomfortable. All in all we all felt so upset and sad about the experience I don’t think I could bring myself to go back post Covid. Terrible memory. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great setting but not quite up to usual Ritz service standard due to Covid

Jul 3rd, 2020

We have visited this hotel several times over the years and the setting can not be beat. Golf at the two courses nearby is unforgettable. Only problem is the service level we come to expect from staying at a Ritz fell short. Made a reservation at Navio their restaurant and the bot confirmed it, only to learn upon check in that Navio is closed. Calls to front desk from room went to an unmanned voicemail. No concierge. You can still roast marshmallows by the fire pits out back. Seemed like they were understaffed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary and July 4th weekend at the ritz. Meh!

Jul 3rd, 2020

1. Beautiful property 2. Probably the best tomato soup I’ve ever eaten 3. Beautiful golf course Unfortunately the good things ended there 1. We paid over 2,000 dollars a night for our room the WiFi didn’t work the fireplace didn’t work - I mean, anywhere else in the world at this price I’d atleast get good WiFi if not a palatial room. 2. The servers at the outdoor restaurant were extremely rude 3. The food was ok nothing to really talk about Will I ever come back? Nope - not unless the staff gets more polite and the rooms function enough to be remotely value for money TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overpriced, but gorgeous.

Due to Covid-19, there were a ton of things out of the property's control, my review does NOT hold them accountable for what they are not in control over. I asked initially for a 4PM late c/o. They said 2. I asked to be met half way at 3PM and they said 2:30PM. I was over it and did not want to keep fighting. That was one issue. Second issue is that I asked for a room service breakfast order to be done next morning and I was informed that due to Covid that they could not place a preorder. As a former front desk leader at another luxury property, I say that's not true. They didn't feel like going the extra mile and they did not hold their selves accountable. Considering I spent $720 for a night there, pretty dissappointing. If the rate were $450, I would have been real happy. But that was not the case here. Staff, with notable exception of the operating restaurant and bellmen, were robotic and dismissive. Most likely will not return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Average at best

I am a Titanium Member of Bonvoy. Usually you get some recognition for the status. Not in this case. Most of the facilities were closed and I was not very thrilled with the service on the property. There was no breakfast or coffee service before 8 o’clock in the morning. Which I don’t understand because at least they could open a coffee bar for self-service coffee. Is there is nothing else around it you are not able to go anywhere to get your own coffee. For dinner tried to schedule a food delivery but was told that I cannot schedule anything I just have to call about 30 minutes before I want to forward. Again very inconvenient. I do think that some hotels confuse virus protection with lack of service of the staff. I did not have a very good stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
