This property should lose their flag
Sep 10th, 2020
I understand its COVID but there are many changes the property made that they blamed on the gov't. For example, taking away glassware, real napkins, plates and silverware. While I still don't understand taking away room service, when its easy enough to deliver a full room service experience safely, i.e. wearing a mask, taking away the wine opener, glasses and replacing it with plastic cups in the room, makes me question this property as a luxury brand in the Marriott portfolio. This property blames the gov't mandates for the reason why things are gone. The Four Seasons have a full service experience from their restaurant Vernick Fish. Amazing! I can't stand liars. Also, what ever happened to the green initiative they were pushing? I guess they aren't so green after all. You want me to pay more for disposable take out from the average restaurant ? You want to charge Ritz prices and give me a select service experience? No thanks. I emailed the GM and got no response. They should lose their flag. I would rather stay at a Hampton Inn or Marriott Courtyard because at least I don't expect much. This Ritz disappoints in a big way. They are probably owned by a REIT and while I understand cost cutting measures, there are ways to be innovative and not sacrifice the customer service experience. The Ritz Philly is an average experience, average property for what is supposed to be the luxury brand in the Marriott portfolio. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Hotel Continues to Deliver in Times of Covid-19
Aug 27th, 2020
The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia has been one of those hotels that I have visited regardless some of the mixed reviews found in this site, and it never disappoints. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit it in late August, and I am so glad that I did. A chance to get away from the regular routine, and being able to enjoy the comforts of such a great hotel, definitely was worth every penny from beginning to end. Upon arrival, valet parking was efficient and took care of car almost immediately. The actual price per night increased since my last stay to $60 per night, but most hotels around the area charge this amount. Check-in was quickly expedited by Jackie, and a minor door's lock incident was quickly resolved by their engineering team and front desk staff. My room was a suite looking directly at City Hall in a high floor. If you have an opportunity to book one of the guest rooms or suites with this view, it is absolutely priceless. The suite was around 700 sq. ft. and it included a great soaking tub, shower, comfortable bed and sofa, and definitely allowed anyone to disconnect and relax. Even though small dining options or snacks were available in their main restaurant downstairs during the last week in August, in-restaurant dining is supposed to return on September 1st, so hopefully it will continue as planned and future guests are able to enjoy other options. I still did not feel limited and there are many options within a walking distance. What I love about this location is that everything is centrally located to major attractions and restaurants. It is a hotel that offers the opportunity to choose what you would love to do with easy access. Finally, just one last thing to know is that you better call 20-30 minutes in advance to get your car upon wanting to check out. Even though I called 20 minutes before, there was a significant wait time to get my car. Other than such small inconvenience, the Ladies and Gentlemen of this hotel really make this hotel stand out. Special thanks to David and Jackie for going the extra mile in assisting me before and during my stay, and recognizing Marriott Bonvoy loyalty. I would highly recommend this hotel anytime and look forward to coming back in November (hopefully). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We came here for our anniversary and what a surprise we had. Amazing all around even with Covid restrictions. The service was Ritz all the way! I want to personally thank Jordan the manager and James at concierge for going above and beyond to make our anniversary amazing. The lobby is so breathtaking and rooms are fantastic TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Its not a 5 star hotel and its barely a Ritz. Agree with other bad reviews, rooms aren’t up to par, service is weak. I had to go search out a bellman and valet when we arrived. $70 for valet is ridiculous even for a downtown Ritz. Just a weak overall experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

At check in our 3 girls were given Ritz Carlton Lions and Rubber ducks. What a perfect touch...the staff is wonderful the rooms are clean. As a frequent traveler I really appreciate the great service especially during these trying times. The only place to stay when visiting Philadelphia! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
