One of the Best Ritz Resorts

We just finished a two week stay at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota, and it's easily one of the best and most enjoyable Ritz resorts we've stayed in. The key is the Beach Club, which is a gorgeous facility located on a wonderful, walkable beach. We used the pool for sitting and the beach for walking, and the staff couldn't do enough for us, particularly Lori, Bill, Brianna, and Laura at the pool, and David at the valet desk. Great place to have lunch overlooking the pool and beach. The main hotel is very comfortable -- our room overlooked the marina. All of the staff were terrific, but particular kudos to Kent at the front desk, and Ivan in Loss Prevention. Because of the Coronavirus, things began to close in Sarasota during our stay, and toward the end the restaurants had to close, but the hotel adapted wonderfully with takeout service for breakfast in the room, and lunch at poolside. We'll be back next year for sure. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

gorgeous place, my absolute favorite in the world

It was a trip long overdue and was provided by a wonderful friend of mine to help me relax and give me a time to reflect and meditate on all the wonderful gifts I had in my life, and this friend was with me, and he was a gift and this place was an amazing gift TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

STAY AWAY AND AVOID

Stay completely away from making a reservation at this hotel. The hotel has charged my credit card over $1,000 cancellation fees for reservations that were cancelled weeks ago. My trip was cancelled due to the COVID-19. I’d received an email from Marriott stating cancellation penalties will be waived due to the COVID-19 and this hotel is ripping customers off during a time when people around the world are suffering and cannot travel. In addition, I have not been able to speak with any at the hotel in management since nobody will return my calls. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous but expensive

My partner and I stayed for from nights in February. Checkin was pleasant, although were not offered a glass of complimentary champagne as other guests were and the receptionist seemed a little rushed. We upgraded to the club level, which was a huge benefit - although fairly expensive. Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice and lovely fresh fruit, yoghurts, breads and pastries and eggs - and a variety of other hot foods. Lunches were also fabulous - pizzas to make up, salads, wraps and sandwiches. There was also a good selection of wine, teas and coffees. The staff were extremely friendly - With nothing too much trouble,especially Daniel the English chap from Kent. Beauty treatment and the facial I had was ok... very expensive and left my face sore and spotty... which is not what you want on your holiday! Spa area could do with a refurb as it’s looking rather tired. Room was very clean with a great selection of toiletries and waters left each day. Overall a lovely stay! The general manager from Ireland also went out of his way to ensure we were happy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disgusting

One of the worst experiences at a hotel I’ve ever encountered. Stood her a few weeks ago. From the moment we arrived I felt like we were at a standard hotel under the freeway but for $800 more a night. We unload all of our own items, no one acknowledged us, we head inside to check in and we’re told our room is not ready at 430 although check in time is 4. The front desk was very apologetic and offered us drinks at the bar, but we’re paying a lot for that room and just want to settle in. We headed into the restaurant jack dusty after storing our luggage. The food was mediocre , drinks were good. There were 4 other people at the bar I was talking to who were waiting for their rooms at 5pm also. We headed back to the front desk around 530 and our room still wasn’t ready. At this point I had enough and spoke with Alf the manager. It seemed like I was bothering him because he tells me “we don’t guarantee check ins by a specific time”. Really? It’s 530 at night, I’ve been traveling since 5am and you can’t do anything? I was ready to leave and my wife convinced me to head to the beach. So we decided to go to the beach in our jeans and sweatshirt which is what we had been wearing since we left our house in Toronto, and was able to catch a beautiful sunset. Of course the moment we left the hotel and headed to the beach, we get a phone call our room is ready. We couldn’t be told that 5 mins prior by the manager? When we arrived back at the hotel around 7pm we’re told the luggage had been brought to our room by the front desk. As we’re walking through the lobby to the elevators we see the same individuals who were working early in the afternoon, this time stumbling around and appeared to be drunk in dresses and suits. So weird and unprofessional. We get off the elevator and the carpets are FILTHY. The wallpaper is falling off in the hallways and there’s food all over. We get to our room and our luggage isn’t there. However there is chocolate covered strawberries and a card which we thought were sweet, initially. Until we come to find out it was meant for a different guest with a different last name and we possibly had the wrong room. We call down and spoke with Andre who said the items would be brought right up and apologized for the strawberries and told me we were in the correct room. I asked Andre “why would they tell me my luggage would up here if it’s not?”. He apologized. The bellman arrived with our belongings, nice smile and positive energy. He had brought a bottle of champagne and apologized for the inconvenience. A very nice gentleman and nice touch but I’m sorry, too little too late. The next day we go to head to the beach club and the shuttle isn’t there at 9:30am even though we were told they leave every half hour. The doorman says it’s every hour. We decided to just take our vehicle and it took 25 mins for them to bring it up! At that point we said forget it, we’ll take the shuttle in 5 minutes. Beach club was nice, peaceful and serene. We go to take the shuttle bus back and it’s full. We’re told we have to wait for the next one, an hour from now. We were told we could go to st Armand’s circle so we Uber there. When we get back to the hotel at 5p our room isn’t clean. I asked the bellman passing by, Jose, if he could get us more towels and he said I had to call housekeeping. You can’t just go get them or ask them yourself? We then check out a couple days later and that same bellman, Jose, tells us “I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay, it’s crazy here this time of the year.” Really? This is the staff you have working and their response? We get downstairs and once again, 25 minutes to get our vehicle. I will never come back to this location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
