Best for "downtown" Toronto

Excellent facility, great service, solid rooms. Location works for any downtown meeting/convention. Pet friendly location as well. Couple of decent bars - nice meeting rooms and staff. Highly Recommended TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Standard Ritz experience

Jul 13th, 2019

This place is right across the street from the convention center in the heart of downtown Toronto. I prefer to be in Yorkville, as it's much more fun neighborhood, but if you need to be around this part of town, the Ritz's will be fine. The rooms are pleasant, the staff are all friendly, and the food served at my meeting was good. You can take the new train from the airport to within a 10-min walk from the hotel; just get off at Union station. It saves time and stress if you're in rush hour. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Ritz Carlton High Tea - Low Experience

Jul 11th, 2019

Myself and my team went to High Tea at the Ritz Carlton today and I had the worse High Tea experience in Toronto and one of my worse restaurant experiences anywhere. The dining room was almost empty - there were a few people on the patio. 3 of us arrived before 11:30 am for an 11:30 am - 1 pm seating and it was downhill from there. In summary even though we ordered High Tea for 10 before noon, we didn't receive our food until 1:15 pm when it was packaged and repackaged and brought out to us by their Senior management - which is ridiculous. Most folks couldn't stay till 1:15 and so we had to deliver the meal packages after the fact. How did this happen in such a world class organization, this was due to a lack of communication, a lack of coordination in the kitchen, and gross neglect of their clientele which isn't normally a hallmark of the Ritz Carlton. Or at least hadn't been my experience, which is why I asked for this location when folks wanted to go out for High Tea. A detailed run of the issues: * It took 10 minutes after 3 of us sat for anyone to even acknowledge that they needed to prep the rest of the tables or to take an order. I asked for my order to br brought right away as I had to leave by 1. * Someone brought out tea for the 3 of us but I then had to ask another server to get the people that were serving us as we saw no one for 15 minutes and no one had taken the order for the other 7 people. I then repeated my order. * The dining room was almost empty - there were a few people on the patio. Everyone came after us, and was served before we were. * The order for everyone was eventually taken before noon but then with no server sighting at 12:35 pm I asked a server to go to the kitchen to come to talk to me about the food. * I set a timer - someone showed up in 5 minutes told me that she was looking for the Manager and didnt know the cause of the the delay but the food would be out shortly * I set a timer - the Manager showed up 5 minutes after I saw the last server. Now it was 12:45 pm and she offered a short apology and promised that the food would be out in 5 min. I asked to speak to her Manager as she was a part of the group that took the initial order and if she couldnt be found by her staff and couldnt deliver food in more than 45 minutes, how was she going to help here * I set a timer - the Assist Food and Beverage Director showed up in 15 min at 1 pm, apologized, gave a story about mix-up with the reservation, but him that that was irrelevant due to the fact that we had received no communication about the reservation, food orders, or frankly anything, he then told me that I wasn't going to be charged went off to try to ascertain what had happened. I asked for the food to be packaged * People started leaving but I stayed behind * I set a timer and in 10 minutes saw someone else who identified themselves as the Food and Beverage Director who apologized profusely and reiterated that I wouldn't have to pay. I told him that I didn't care about the payment, but that I am the one who recommended this restaurant and now I had people who had already left without eating. He said that this was inexcusable and he would check into this * At 1:15 pm we started getting first set of boxes * This type of gross negligence cannot be a one-time affair, it wasn't just that the food was late. In all that time, no one had checked on us. No one offered water or provided any update on the delayed meals. One can't just forget that 10 meals are late for 40 minutes. The Manager couldn't be located and wasn't seen after she gave her wrong food delivery timing. It took the Assoc Food and Beverage Director to tell them how to try to salvage this - REALLY!! * They need to pause their High Tea service until they have figured out how to get it to the standard expected at a Ritz Carlton. Go over to Shangri-La, the King Eddy or hop on the subway up to the Windsor Arms. They have issues but not with their High Tea service * The Ritz Carlton High Tea is a Low Experience!! Lacking transparency

The ritz Carlton toronto did not honor the perks earned as a Titantium elite member. e.g. The normal breakfast and entry to the Executive lounge were not offered. They charge $75 a day for the Executive lounge. They should inform you prior so you can make a decision with full disclosure not find out at the desk for check in! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

First Class Hotel!

Jul 9th, 2019

I stayed at the Ritz for two nights with my wife and two-year old son and I was really happy with the experience. The location is good with everything just a few short blocks away and the downtown location. Service levels were top notch with staff paying particular attention to our needs with a young child. The pool was large and bright with great views and minimal noise. The rooms themselves were fairly large for a big city and dark blinds which kept our son sleeping and happy. Overall, I would reccomend this hotel for couples and for families. Great service and staff who are happy to accomodate and provide suggestions, along with a family-friendly atmosphere. They even provided a crib and toys for us as well. It was a nice touch. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
