A decent stay...

Jul 10th, 2020

Pros: - The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished. I like that they incorporated historic elements into the design (push button light switches, metal keys, actual hardwood floors, etc. - all of which are new). - Friendly service. - Location and dining options nearby. - Comfortable bed & sound machine on the nightstand. - Great smelling body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. - Cute rooftop with views of the city. The not so great: - Only four chaise lounges, which were occupied by -outside visitors-. As a hotel guest, it would've been nice to lay out in the sun after applying sunscreen. I sat and waited for one to become available - no luck. I could tell they were outside visitors as they brought their own towel. They also weren't ordering food or drinks from the bar, while I spent $40 (+ $15 tip). Point of frustration. - Facilities fee? They shouldn't be charging this if they can't offer the 'included' amenities.' The gym next-door is closed during the COVID pandemic. That's the only option I wanted to use - aside from a cold bottle of water from the fridge. I don't need junk food, soda, or bottles of beer. Wifi should be free in 2020. - Cafe Robey: Limited food menu that didn't exactly speak breakfast, no cold coffee drinks (nice option when it's hot and humid), and oldies music. Went to coffeeshop next door instead. - Noise from train and traffic below. Didn't bother me, but may be an issue for others. They do offer a sound machine and ear plugs. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great spot in very cool location

Jul 7th, 2020

As a tourist, I was hoping to stay away from the Millennium Park/ downtown area so we looked for a hotel in a more unique and local part of town. The Robey was perfect! Location cannot be beat, right on the L and walking distance to many shops and restaurants- waaay better than staying downtown. I highly recommend. I am Marriott Titanium and this place was a perfect place to use points. Aim for an upgraded corner room- the regular room we got was way too small. The rooftop bar and Cafe Robe were excellent. Pool was crowded, especially for covid. All in all, a great stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

one of few hotels in the area

Fine but expensive compared to similar older hotels. We choose the location to avoid public transportation but other hotels that we have stayed in Chicago were comparable and much cheaper. Room was very small. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Crowded Elevatir

Jul 3rd, 2020

Fine hotel. Just be aware during COVID that the only access to the loft annex rooms is via one elevator that also serves the rooftop bar. Everybody had a mask on but every time we were in the elevator not social distanced with about 4 or more bar patrons. If I had been aware we would not have chosen to stay here for this reason. No stairs are available. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful renovation!

Jun 29th, 2020

I stayed in the Annex wing - the industrial /modern look was very well done. My room was right next to the train - and though you could hear it, the sound was low and did not disturb me. Overall - great stay - would highly recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
