Pros and Cons

Nov 17th, 2020

Pros: Great location just across from the old town area. The pool area was large and well kept with poolside food and drink service. Friendly staff throughout. Cons: This very large property feels like it was formerly a run down place that was "fixed up" on a budget. The beds were full sized, not queen even though there was enough space for queen rooms. The decor was strange. There was a sheer curtain on one wall that blocked access to the outlets. Popcorn ceilings. The first time we tried to shower the shower was broken and a maintenance person had to come fix it. He was nice and it was fixed in about 20 minutes, but still. The bathroom was small with minimal counter space. The bathroom door was barn style and did not close all the way. The balconies are strange. They are very small, too small for any furniture. There is barely enough space to stand out there. I stayed with two girlfriends and the overall consensus was that the location and pool made up for any shortcomings. I would stay there again, although the rooms could benefit from some changes. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just an absolute disaster.

Nov 10th, 2020

My Wife and I have stayed here multiple times however this will most likely be the last. I spent the days leading up to the stay arranging room upgrades and the like. Upon my Wife checking in, we were provided the wrong room promised and charged the upgrade fee. Day one of our stay resulted in multiple groups of people drinking and fighting resulting in one group of guys threatening other groups trying to enjoy the pool. He was ultimately arrested. Hey hotel staff, learn when to cut off someone who is drinking that much. Ok so Sunday day two. Left the room to go eat and requested house keeping to visit the room. Needed towels, etc. and a simple cleaning. Put the sign out requesting house keeping and called and spoke to front desk. Returned four hours later to the same messy room. Ok so whatever lets go to the pool. Called again for house keeping. Now mind you I specifically asked about the pool. Yes sir it is heated. No it is not! It was freezing. Secondly the hot tub was hot, however the jets were not operational. Go back to the room to get ready to go out. Guess what, still a mess. Ok so now its Monday. Leaving to go the fashion square mall. Called front desk. Begged for service to the room. At this point we were using wet dirty towels and pool towels. Also no toilet paper left, had to use tissues. Was assured that they would send house keeping. Returned three hours later to the disaster we left. Upon check out on Tuesday morning, the gentlemen had no issues running through the list of fees and charges. He asked me what card I wanted to pay with. I said, you probably should ask me how my stay was. So he did and I told him how poor this visit was. He decided to remove the resort fee. Wow, not very aggressive of a comp considering I paid $550 to stay 15 minutes from home to try and enjoy a staycation. Just an absolutely horrible weekend. Just asked for housekeeping multiple times to no avail. So to recap: all three days dirty room, no house keeping, no toilet paper, no coffee refills, and the ice machine next to us was non functional. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The bright colors and friendly staff

Nov 4th, 2020

Here’s the thing about traveling during a Global Pandemic. It’s different. The Saguaro you knew and loved is in a state of pause, as much of our lives are. The rowdy pool parties, the amazing weddings and the spring training fun are on hold. What’s not on hold are friendly staff like Brennan and Jenny at the Front Desk. As many hotels did not fare well during their closure times, the Saguaro is open, the bright colors still give me a boost of energy, the bougainvilleas are still blooming and the rooms are super clean. They even use this electrostatic germ killer that zaps viruses on surfaces. Services are limited as the hotel adjusts to the needs of a different type of business. (No Breakfast on weekdays but there are places in town for that.) If you need a Four Seasons Experience, don’t come here for that but you’re also not paying Four Seasons prices so get over yourself. P.S. Still Pet Friendly so splurge on a ground floor room with a patio for your pups and don’t forget to pick up after them. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing experience!

Nov 2nd, 2020

We had nothing but great experiences while here. EVERY single staff we encountered was really friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to make sure our experience was memorable. This was some of the best treatment we have ever had at a hotel. The hotel has so much character and it's made to foster a great vacation. The pool atmosphere is on point and you couldn't get any closer walking distance to all of Old Town. The hotel itself is a little run down, but the price of the room fairly reflects that. We plan to come back and suggest it others headed to Phoenix Old Town area. Well Done Saquaro! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
